While I want a laptop for the ability to take it to the living room when sitting with my housemate's stepmom who has Alzheimer's and needs to have someone around at all times (she is a danger if she tries to do something in the kitchen), it would be useful to be able to use it connected to an external monitor to do comparisons between databases which isn't possible with only one system as can only use one instance of calibre on my main system.
Most laptops have an HDMI port Mine has an HDMI port and a Mini DisplayPort port. If you have a smart LCD TV, Windows allows wirelessly using it as another monitor. You can then have two screens with no wires. The TV would need to support miracast. It's not difficult.

ninja'd

If the TV doesn't support miracast, there are transceivers you can attach to the TV's HDMI port - check the TV manufacturer. Cheaper than a new TV.

Supposedly you can even mirror Windows using an Amazon TV Fire Stick.
