Sorry for the lack of news today; the bug reported by pwalker8 is turning out to be a lot more difficult to fix than I had hoped.
Since it's a bug likely to affect anyone with an older device and 2,000 or more books, I have to fix it. Now if only it would stop fighting back ![]() Anyway, I'll post again once I've resolved it. I'm aware a few new testers have signed up and haven't received their download link yet. I'll do that once I've fixed this bug; there's no need for other people to experience the same issue. Hopefully this will be sorted early next week. Thanks! |

All right, I think I've fixed it. I had to rewrite a lot of code around the sending of metadata at the beginning of the connection process, but it syncs without issue for me with a library of 4500 books. The thing to check in this version is the process of adding books from non-Calibre sources (e.g. download from your browser and then tap on "Open in CC"), and sync'ing metadata that's been changed. Ideally both of those with a library of at least a few hundred books.
Hopefully it will still work for all of you too ![]() |

One minor quirk. I have my ebooks sorted by date added to Calibre in Calibre. I synced, and sent 3 books to the device. Disconnected. Changed a few meta data (readling list and collections) and reconnected. This time, the 1st book on the list in calibre was shown as not on the device, even though it was (I even opened the book in a reader app to make sure it was the right book). Sent it again. Disconnected and reconnected after changing the meta data of a couple of books (removed a couple of books that I had read from the reading list). Everything was fine, including metadata.

I've discovered what appears to be an issue with version 0.92 however. When I use the Wireless Device option to transfer ebooks to my iPad or iPad mini, the transfer works great the first time. However, if I immediately attempt to send a second ebook, it freezes Calibre. The only way I've been able to get around that is to disconnect my device and reconnect it. Afterwards it works for one transfer and it freezes again, forcing me to disconnect and reconnect if I want to do another transfer. |

Sorry, I was away yesterday. However, it sounds as if you two (pwalker8 and Mike4672) are actually describing problems with the same root cause. I clearly messed something up in the synchronisation code - for one of you, it missed a book out, for the other, it didn't reset the connection with Calibre correctly.

I've just sent out another version. It fixes the issue Mike4672 reported (being unable to send a single book, multiple times), and hopefully fix the issue from pwalker8. Unfortunately I wasn't able to reliably get an issue with the metadata myself, so it's hard to know if I definitely fixed it.
The good news as well is that while I've been working on these bugs, a colleague has been making progress with the cloud connection. That was originally planned to be a V2 release, but it's seeming more likely that it will be in v1 now that fixing these bugs has taken a while. |

I didn't see a recurrence of the problem.

I have a different problem. If I sort by date added to CC, all of them show the same date: the last time I've connected the device to calibre, but that is not the real date (I added the books with the previous version).

Odd. That's my normal sort. I wonder what the difference is.

There seems to be an issue in regard to ebooks downloaded using the Content Server. If I download an ebook using the Content Server, it downloads and appears on my device just fine. However, when I attempt to download subsequent ebooks, they don't appear to have downloaded, but they did. The issue is that the ebooks don't show up on the list view... making it appear as though they haven't downloaded. When I switch to bookshelf view, the ebooks are all there. Yet, when I switch back to list view, the ebooks don't show up.
Keeping in mind, the above, if I switch to Wireless Device (without disconnecting) and upload an ebook, that ebook, plus all the previous ebooks downloaded, appear in list view. If I switch back to the Content Server, the above issue happens again with any ebook downloaded after the first ebook, until I switch to Wireless Device and upload an ebook. |

I'm going to have to delay the next update until next week; I've got to work on another project for the next couple days. Thanks everyone for your help so far! |
