I have a 4 gig Scan Disc card with about 700 books on it and it does take some time to load and refresh but while it can be annoying it is not so bad of a thing to deter me from using a memory card. While many people are happy with the internal memory of about 150 books I like to carry around my entire e-library as I sometimes flick through, as I would with a normal library, deciding what to read next.

As far as battery drain I get about two weeks of heavy duty reading time out of my reader. The one thing that does happen that I am not happy about is that my batter bar could be at two bars and all of a sudden my reader goes off like it has run out of power. It would be nice to give a bit of warning before the thing shuts itself down but other than that I have no problems with mine.

Well proven to who? I haven't noticed any problem with this at all and suspect those who say so to just simply drinking the Kool-aid. Also, I guess I'm not in my right mind since I'm the record holder as far as I know on this forum for having books, look for "How I got 4000+ books to show on my reader". Wow, I can't believe people like you spend the money for the reader, why?

I don't know if anyone else has brought this up, but the major disappointment with my reader is that it can't access the total amount of books I have. I loaded up 2 8 gig cards, one MS one SD, and on both it seems to hit a 4 gig limit and then corrupts the cache.xml file. If you load it with small numbers of books at a time, it can handle it, the most I was able to get was like 4051 or something, but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be able to have 6,000 books or even more on my reader. That would be just heaven on earth for me.

I haven't noticed a huge drain from using memory cards either.
I've read ~2000 pages since the last charge, and am down to 2 bars of battery. So maybe I only get 3-4000 pages per charge rather than 6-8000, is that really a big deal?

Thanks, that is exactly the information that I was looking for. I am not sure what I have on my memory stick, but I assume there are quite a few because of the size. I'll have to trim it down a bit. Considering how many books that could exist on a 16G card, I would imagine that it would take days for those to load, if it could load at all.
