If it is sold by Amazon - then it is Amazon. If it is sold by a third party/Marketplace seller then it is subject to their return policy.

Yes they are. Both are usually 30 days although Third Party Sellers can have different return policies on Amazon so before buying from a third party check their return policy first in their store link.

Ultimately I'd buy from Amazon direct (it says Sold by Amazon and fulfilled by Amazon). Even if it's sold by another company and fulfilled by Amazon you would return it direct to Amazon.

Buying from Amazon direct is usually more no quibble than a third party I would say.

I'd make a rough guess at the 15th as that's when the kobo site mentions.

I'm suspecting a bit later than that, it started selling/shipping on 6th Sept if memory serves me correct? I would presume that they probably started shipping a week before that to retailers or around that date. Usually shipping items from US to UK (not Canada) take around 3-4 weeks when I've purchased items, so if they shipped from Canada to WH Smiths around 6th then we're probably talking last week of September or first week of October. If they shipped a week before then maybe around 26th September which would go with the outer 2 week delivery WH Smiths are currently quoting.

Unfortunately probably true, I'm just trying to be optimistic

Then again when I paid a week ago it said 1-2 weeks and still says the same. Sounds like they're not quite sure when they'll actually get stock

I think they were probably told 3 weeks ago that they'll get stock in 2 weeks so they probably put it up as 1-2 weeks when you pre-ordered it in the hope stock would arrive. Seeing how quickly Kobo.com has gone out of stock my bet would be that they probably only have a hundred or less units coming over from Canada followed in 2 weeks by another set of drip feed stock. Sadly most companies always have stock issues at new release, even Apple do. I don't think I've ever seen a company that has sufficient stock at launch, if they do then their sales and marketing must be pretty bad.

Yeah. I thought it was a bit disingenuous to keep people who ordered online waiting.

I'm still awaiting mine direct from Kobo. Ordered at 5am on the 6th (the sole advantage of working early shift patterns) but no tracking email yet.

If you buy online from WHSmith, you can go to a store and return it if need be. So there's no having to send it back. Just go to your closest store.

thanks, yes i know i can, but i am patience enough to wait until they have them in store, plus they usually have them on display, so i can try the device out hands on before i decide if i want one or not.
