Yes, I was thinking the same. To be able to use your books outside of your home is, IMO, more important to those that read a lot and want to utilize time away from home. Exception is textbooks, but that will depend on your school which is the preferable norm, does not necessarly depend on the individual student.

Portability doesn't have to mean "an entire library at your fingertips." It can simply mean, "I already have to carry my phone, why carry a physical book as well?" The desire to not be weighed down with physical books is quite "avidness agnostic" in my opinion.

Bingo! This is what I mean by portability, the same happened with music. To be able to listen to music and/or read wherever you happen to be is a wonderful thing.

If you only want a bookcase full of classics for impressing others when they watch your video, then just use a green screen You can then put in any backdrop you want in post production of the video. If you want it for people on skype (live video), you can always use a roll-down screen or something.

True story. Way back in the late 70's, during the Brother's Hildenbrant book illustrations craze, I picked up a trade paper that had illustrations that looked like their style with a blurb "In the tradition of Tolkien", so naturally being a big Tolkien fan and not so cagey teenager, I bought it. When I got it home, it turned out to be a pretty nasty porn book. After about 20 pages of it, I tossed in in my garbage can. It was that bad. I was steamed. My mother pulled it out of the garbage can, thought it looked nice, so she put it in the bookcase of the living room. She had it there for about 10 years. I snickered every time I went into the living room and saw it. (of course I didn't tell her, I did say I was a teenager, didn't I?)

Well... Yeah. According to their website, the Brothers Hildebrandt do, or have done, that sort of art. So yeah, it *is* in the style of Tolkien, only in a ... different ... genre.

I wonder if they're still active. They're about as old as Gandalf was when he went to the Grey Havens (Just Kidding, in case you're close to 80 )

Did your mother ever actually open the book?

Oh and on that topic, my grandmother bought me "The Anarchist Cookbook" because she thought it would be a neat edition to my cookbook collection. She saw it on a talk show.

No, she did not. She just liked the cover art, which wasn't pornographic (looked quite a bit like the original Sword of Shannara cover).

Hopefully she doesn't get a visit from the Department of Homeland Security.

I'm glad that more of the old fantasy novels are now being redone in much more serious covers I've actually opened a topic about that some time ago.
