@adoresReading Don't suppose you know how to do what you suggested with yahoo's settings do you? Or even where to look for these?

And OMG!! Thank you so much!!! You are a life saver it worked great to my Kindle FIRE HD!!!

EDIT: I don't know what Amazon changed but even though I love Calibre having to make a GMX account to be able to send books to my Kindle wasn't acceptable to me.

That's it! You can now use your gmail again if you changed the above settings in Calibre and the one setting in your gmail account. Fingers and toes crossed for anyone in this situation. It worked for me and it worked for my father who also suddenly became afflicted with this error. And he lives hundreds of miles from me.
AdoresReading, this worked for me too this morning. Strangely I tried it yesterday and it didn't work, but now it's sending docs through. Thank you so much!

What I think is going on

Previously, you could setup Calibre to email books to Amazon by simply specifying your email address.
To be able to do that, I think the email must actually have been sent from Calibre's mail server with your email address set as the return address.
What I think has changed is that Amazon are now comparing your email address with the server address and rejecting emails where the two don't match.
The thing that's causing confusion is that they seem to be carrying out this check after they've carried out the check to see if there's a valid attachment.
When there's no attachment, you get an email back that they've rejected it, when the host names don't match, you get nothing!

You don't need to create a new mail account, just enter the settings for your current mail provider's SMTP server. To find the values to enter into Calibre, just do a search for the relevant settings, e.g. 'gmail mail server settings'

'rejecting emails where the two don't match'

As I see it that does not explain my problem, I only use the same address as initially configured, it is not Yahoo or Gmail, it is my normal day to day address, which is recognised when purchasing their books, but not those purchased elsewhere.

You can configure more than 1 allowed SENDER at Amazon (manage my Kindle)

Same problem here since few days.
Calibre email test is ok, but I don't see mobi files on my Kindle when I send them via Calibre.
If I send mobi files as attache by my email account with "convert" object, they are immediately downloaded, so it's clear that Amazon doesn't accept anymore files sent by Calibre server.
I'll continue to use Calibre only like converter because I don't need to insert my email password in any other application

update: after sending a test mail by Calibre, a return mail from Amazon says that no attachments were in the message.....so, Amazon recognizes messages from Calibre server.
Hoping to be a temporary issue

Please, read my post! I wrote "mobi files", not AZW, not dual mobi, no other.
I'm not the only one with that issue

How many man hours have we all spent wrestling with this Calibre to Kindle email problem? I think I have tried every solution suggested. Calibre says the email was sent successfully. Amazon says there was no attachment. The only solution that works for me is to completely disconnect from Calibre and to use Outlook with my normal email client, attach the appropriate MOBI file and send it to My Kindle. Bang, first time every time.
Highlighting the book in Calibre, following the path to the file, right clicking and sending that way did not work for me. I suspect that if Amazon sniffs Calibre in the transfer a switch is flicked.

And it shows up properly in Sent Mail in your email account?

Correction. In my earlier post I said that highlighting the book in Calibre and following the path to the file and then sending did not work. In fact the book appeared, I guess, about 15 minutes later. So that suggests that as the email system works, and as manually attaching the file works, the problem must be that Calibre is failing to attach the file.

I'll ask again:

When you send via calibre, does it show up properly in Sent Mail in your email account?
That means, it has the same from and to addresses, same content, valid attachment, etc.

Sorry but, what kind of question is that?
If you use Calibre to send a file, you use the server of Calibre and you can't see anything in sent folder of your mail application.
If you send a file as attachment with your mail account (via web or application like Outlook, Gmail etc) you can see the result in Sent folder
