My main reason for e-reading is because my hands can't comfortably hold most deadtree books. It's an accessibility issue.

I voted no, because I would prefer a smaller device like Kobo Mini instead. I do not use PDF's or CBR/CBZs, so carrying an smaller device with less weight is more preferable.

The only thing that will keep me from upgrading will be the form / aesthetics. I really like how the Glo HD looks and feels. If they were to go with something less streamlined, say a throwback to the original Aura HD, I won't feel so enthusiastic.

I'm voting no. 7.8 inches is too big for my tiny hands, and I love my kobo glo. In future I'll go for a glo HD instead.

Just curious.
Fair enough, but for me the big difference is that you can handle a paperback very differently from an eReader. You don't have to hold it gently, you don't have to see that you're not bending or warping it, you don't have to only hold it round the edges, and if you put it in your bag you don't have to be cautious about what might be exerting pressure on it.

For me, weight is not an issue. I love my Aura HD for the size of its screen, but also for its weight -- I'm bigger than average (194 cm) with big hands, so smaller, lower-weight devices are actually less comfortable for me to hold for a solid reading session.

I'd certainly give a 7.8" device serious consideration, but I echo others' concern about fragility of the substrate (and, presumably, a geometrically-higher price).

Even though I voted "yes without reservations" I have reservations about Aura One.
I hope other 7.8" readers will appear.
As to the weight, at least Aura One is lighter than H2O, so that is something.

But for that money I want a card slot and buttons to turn pages. And also some consistency in quality would be great. These screens currently are like playing a lottery.
So perhaps better to wait for an open android version with the card slot, with buttons and the screen manufacturing issues will be ironed out in the mean time.
I hope that perhaps Boyue or somebody eventually will begin making them.

Another thing. Even though 8" or 7.8" sizes are the same as those of paperbacks, their hight / width ratios are all wrong.

That really is something that reader manufacturers should figure out. Margins that replicate the dimensions of typical book layouts seem like a waste lf space... enough to add buttons on the side..

i agree with all the points you make, although don't hold your breath for Kobo to implement any of them.

best wishes koboy
