Thanks for reply. If you're referring to the entries for '113' and '504', I've change both of them. I've tried the method with 2 different dictionaries and it does the same with both - ie download and overwrite as soon as I try and access them. I'm wondering if should change/add ALL of the metadata entries in the original dictionary?
And by the way, any idea why it's not possible to simply add a new dictionary to the PC app when it's possible on the physical Kindle? |

Using Kindle for PC v.1.30.0 (59056), Windows 10 Home
I did this method to try and install an English to Thai custom dictionary. I followed the instructions very carefully and I am fairly certain I did things correctly, because it worked ONE TIME. But one time only. After copying the renamed and meta-data-modified custom dictionary to the B003ODIZL6_EBOK folder, I tried launching Kindle several times but I kept getting a "No definition found" message for all the words I tried. I actually started a "not working for me" post here last night. But I gave it one more try - relaunching the Kindle app - and IT WORKED! So I shut things down and now trying it again tonight. Now it is not working again after numerous tries. Always "Np definition found". I have not changed anything since last night. This is so strange because it worked once. I do have the Thai language pack installed on my PC, if it matters. Wondering if anyone might have encountered this problem and fixed it, or has any ideas about how to fix it? When I added the 113 and 504 metadata keys, I did notice that the custom dictionary had many fewer keys than the NOA English dictionary that I replaced. So I am wondering of there are other important keys that my need to be added or updated to make this work? But.....it worked once....so...??? Plucking at straws here...but does the Kindle PC app do any sort of location checking? This is a real head-scratcher for me. I work with computer software so do not be concerned about getting technical with me.... FWIW this same dictionary works fine on my Android tablet (following the instructions for Android of course, no metadata modification required). Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. And I will definitely post here if I find a solution. |

Just tried it again after letting it be for an hour or so...now it is working every time I start Kindle.
Really would like to know the underlying cause of this seemingly erratic behavior. |
