For a PW2, be very certain to match the model characters in the serial number.
Amazon made a hardware change, the eMMC model, during the PW2 production run.
The firmware for the early (2G) model can not run the eMMC of the later (4G) model.

Sounds like the problem expressed in another currently active thread.
Although in that thread the poster claims the device is a PW3, that particular poster might be wrong.

I have some Kindle Voyage demo units coming next week. I take it you might like to have a copy of the demo.bin file from that.

Too bad I didn't read this post earlier yesterday. I discovered one PW2 unit still had the demo.bin file on it and did a factory reset to clear it out.

Too bad I didn't read this post earlier yesterday. I discovered one PW2 unit still had the demo.bin file on it and did a factory reset to clear it out.

Factory reset does not destroy files. It just hides them and marks their allocation units as "available".

Please unerase demo.bin before copying files to the shared USB drive. Overwiting a deleted file WILL destroy it. Even if you did copy files to the drive, it may still be there on the drive. I hope it is still intact.

There are many free tools that can recover this file if its disk sectors have not been overwritten.

Note that when using on a Kindle USB storage or an image file of a Kindle USB storage, when the software asks if the DOS partition table is a 'Vista' style table, answer: Yes
The Kindles use a rather non-standard set of formatting options.

@GM: PM NiLuJe - I think he has a demo.bin from his PW2.

I just successfully downgraded my PW2 from FW 5.7.4 using a FW 5.4.3.2 factory update image "unerased" from a "new" PW2. It worked, and jailbreak installed fine and works great (thanks NiLuJe!). KUAL and extensions installed. Big Buck Bunny is playing in my (unpublished) "GM Video" KUAL extension. I need to make it play centered on this "more pixels" eink display, and perhaps a pixel doubling option on a PW3. And sound. More cowbell, for sure.

Hi geekmaster, would you be able to send that file my way too? I'm in the same boat as you. The last time I looked (a few weeks ago) I couldn't find a way to root my pw2 accidentally upgraded to 5.7.4, now things are looking exciting : )

I just got the DGA-2 demo.bin image a couple hours ago and its link was posted to our JB dev group (plus some extract information). No downloads yet, but it will happen sooner rather than later. FYI, it appears to be for "wario" devices. We want more versions of these as well as the Oasis factory update for DGA-1.
