The header can be disabled fairly easily, but this does introduce other potential issues which patching should solve

So this is why when reading epub on a Kobo reader I have not used for days or more I might have no I no idea what book title and author for a few to many page turns. Go to home page only to see small unreadable book covers without readable title and author captions. Table of contents only has this on title page of the book. Library resent read sort can Indicate what book I am reading with captions. Not a very user friendly system. Maybe it's this way to favour buying books from Kobo.

Even in a sleep cover, when I first open my reader the cover page of the book shows for a second, which is more than long enough to catch the title and author each time, even without trying to notice it. Usually the graphics of the cover is enough even without trying to actually read the title/author.

Like the.Mtn.Man, I don't like the wasted space that having the title displayed on every page takes up, that's the main reason I prefer epubs. Yes, I know the patch can remove that header, but you don't recover the full amount of space from it, it still leaves some wasted space at the top where the title would have been.

Just to chime in on Kobo Customer Service: I've dealt with them several times, including a warranty replacement of one of my Aura HDs and I've had nothing but complete satisfaction every time.

Are you saying that you actually forget which book it is that you're reading? That seems odd to me, even if I were to go a few days without picking up my Kobo. Perhaps you have multiple books going at once?

Anyway, it's simple enough to find out: bring up the menu bar, tap the double arrow icon at the bottom of the screen, and select "Table of contents". The title will be visible at the top of the screen. Tap the "X" to close the screen and resume reading.

I agree - my first Aura started locking up after about a month of use, and after following the "script" of restarting, they replaced it without any issue. The replacement is 8 months along and has never locked up.

I did want the new user to realize that the warranty might be more difficult with an e-bay purchase, as some here have reported. A $50 Aura is a great deal!

The problem with ebay is there's no guarantee that you're buying a new device in good condition. That's why a lot of manufacturers won't honor warranties if you buy from ebay.
