I'm hoping I will use the pencil to take notes (groceries) or simple drawings on the iPad. So when I am out I can reference them.
My iPad Pro 9.7 arrives tomorrow. I am looking forward to the added features it offers. |

I love my iPad Pro 9.7 size! I especially like the True Tone screen, and the anti-glare improvement makes it so nice to read outside now. I did buy the pencil but haven't experimented much with it yet. It is heavier than I anticipated, but the weight is balanced nicely in my hand.

It has really grown on me. I have a macbook pro that I haven't used in months because the iPad Pro does just about everything that I used the macbook pro for. I have two different covers for my iPad Pro. One is a leather cover that I use at home when I'm reading. It has a loop for the pencil. The other is a cover/keyboard that I use at work when I want to take notes. The only thing that I miss from my old iPad is the Kudo battery case.

I've been busy and distracted, and I managed to miss the fact that there was a more portable iPad Pro. After stumbling on this thread this morning I finally caught on and (almost literally) ran to the nearest Apple Store to get one, with the Apple Pencil of course.
And... WOW! This changes everything. Drawing and painting are improved of course, but most spectacularly, handwriting suddenly becomes possible. So far the only app I had found that I could use was Noteshelf. Now suddenly, all those dozens of apps I gave up on become usable. In fact Noteshelf is now behind, as all the work the app does to try to emulate a real pen from a clumsy capacitive stylus is now getting in the way, and my handwriting looks rather weird now using this app. |

@FlorenceArt I used Notes Plus in the past and they have just released a Pencil aware version. It works well for me.
I have a number of other notes taking apps but keep coming back to Notes Plus because I like the way it renders my handwriting. The Fountain Pen mode has width and stroke variations that look nice. |

I started a new thread on handwriting and the Apple Pencil, with a link to the Evernote page I mentioned.

Just curious...how is the reading experience on the pro 9.7 compared to the air 2? I am asking, because I just purchased the air 2. The pro would have been $150 more. My needs are basic.(reading, puzzle games, movies)
Thanks, Penny |

I find it to be similar to the iPad Air experience. I like the True Tone though with the white bezel. It helps make the screen look more white rather than blue or pink depending on the lighting environment. My iPad Pro 9.7 has the white bezel and our iPad Air is black. I would expect the Air and Air 2 experience to be the same.

iPad Pro adjusts color balance automatically. That's important for photographers and that sort of thing but not so much for games and reading. E.g.:
