Normally eBooks are not available before the date they say they will be available. This is the first time I have ever seen an eBook be available before the stated date. It's nothing to do with being able to return early.

I suppose software does change, and is often not transparent to end users, Perhaps we should just focus on the available item as telling us what the particular library has which can be lent right now. No doubt you will get some response from the library and/or can even follow up with Overdrive directly. In any event you will likely get an answer before Paul gets one from Amazon on his thread!
