I've been getting better results with purchasing the Ereader Secure files and running edreader2html to get rid of the DRM.
Of course I also have over 120 books in secure ereader so I fought to find a solution for that. ![]() |

I know this is an older thread - but I had problems w/ a fictionwise title - Children of Dune - the convertlit couldn't downconvert the file - received an error from the command line, unbalanced html extra ending and when I used the first gui, when I looked at the exploded files, they were empty - I used the ConvertLit gui from here: http://dukelupus.pri.ee/convertlit.php and the file was down converted properly, and I could then successfully use Calibre to convert the .lit file to the format I needed.
Goof that I am - I reread this thread - and running just the program w/ the old file name and the new does remove the drm and Calibre works fine w/ that. But, the GUI at the site I gave above does have a nice interface - you can easily select lots of books to de-DRM. Last edited by mgrunk; 10-12-2008 at 11:55 PM. |

Blank files too
Quote:
All of the books from the darkness series infact! the first two books - I was able to get the drm off using c-lit BUT - they opened in about 40 parts each (in other words - 1 chapter at a time. So I was able to open each individual chapter copy/paste into word and saving as rich text format - then did the convert thing using librs500. Well, Now my pages are just coming up blank when opened. |

UHMMMM - I 'm gonna say no. Usually, I get my hubby to do all of the technical stuff and just show me the most basic steps of getting my e-book onto my sony 505.
But - Hubby is mad at me and refuses to fix my stuff! all that said, I am still using clit 18 (I open it, click on lit converter {auto IV v3} click option RUN in the dialog box, choose the lit file I want to convert and then I click OK and it Expands it either into One file (that I then send to libprs500 to convert) or it expands into a whole bunch of files ( which happens 9 out of 10 times now) that I have to open individually and copy into word as html and then send it as a single file to libprs500 to convert. I just installed calibre like ten minutes ago trying to find an updated way to convert. I'm not technilogically saavy at all! |

I suggest using the GUI version: Google for ConvertLit GUI.
Select its downconvert option to strip the DRM and return a single DRM-free LIT file. Then pass this to Calibre. There may be a way to reliably get the same effect with the original ConvertLIT, but the GUI is simple to use and has always worked for me. |

I'm so excited - no more having to copy 30-40 individual files into word for converting to html anymore! YAY! Last edited by Angel_Enraged; 10-15-2008 at 07:44 PM. Reason: wanted to add a comment without posting a new post |
