It looks like a nice tablet, sadly, the pen is nowhere on sale (and without the pen, the tablet would be useless to me).

The stylus is on sale at amazon every now and then. I ordered this bundle tablet + stylus at amazon.de amazon.de bundle tablet + stylus and a second stylus amazon.de Z Stylus only a week later, on January 25th. The second stylus arrived yesterday, so that's ok I think. It was out of stock when I placed my order but I knew from various reviews and blogs that the stylus does come in the end, it's just that Asus has been surprised by the demand ().

Amazon.de is always hit or miss if they deliver here So I almost never check them...

Now I need to find a reason to buy it (so I can explain it to my husband )

I'll give you my explanation to mine :
"I need it. It will change my life. I'll learn to cook".
Yep.. the ways I am willing to go for a new gadget....

PS: he was so duped when he married me... he tought he was getting the whole French Girl package, including the French Cooking. He never realized that I could not (and still to this day cannot) cook. I am Parisian. We eat out .

I have the Asus Zenpad (580ca) tablet with the pen. Great value tablet but I am not so happy about the Z Stylus. It is good for writing type stuff but not so great for drawing activities. On the otherhand Wacom Bamboo with Galaxy Note feels much more natural, although both pens have similar parallaxing issues.

Pen stuff aside, I like this tablet over my Galaxy tab pro because Asus Zenpad has much better screen ratio. It is slightly lighter as well.

Anyways I definetely recommend Asus Zenpad, if you are looking for tablet based ereader. The pen is a good companion to this tablet. However do not have high expectations about the accuracy of the pen.

So I have the Zenpad and the stylus. Both are made to last but I have the issue of tip parallax ;( The pointer and the tip of the stylus are distant apart at least 10/20 pixels diagonaly, under the pen tip Now I can somewhat get rid of it if I hold the pen 90 degrees down but that is almost imposibble to use.

When you are writing (I use my right hand and the pen will have a bit of angle towards right), where do you see the pointer (assuming the pointer is enabled)? Is it just under tip or somehow shifted?

I use it for drawing so not knowing where the tip is going to end up putting the line is a bit of frustrating.

The pressure sensitivity is great btw.

Yes, the pointer should be just under the tip, that's how it is for me. The january update was the one that corrected this. Have you applied it ? If yes, return the tablet as you migt have a defect one.

When you say under the tip, do you mean right (tippy tip of the tip if you will) under the tip or somewhere under the tip? Because mine is somewhere around the projection of the base of the tip if you were tol hold the pen comfortably in your hand with a slanted angle.

The pointer is at the tip if only I hold the pencil at 90 degrees to the screen which is a very uncomfortable way for me. I wonder if you are holding your pen at such a vertical angle.

I got the January update and I feel like it did not make a diff for me. I wonder if this is an issue with the pen or the screen.

Yes, right under the tip. I don't hold my pen vertically (that would be very uncomfortable) but at a 30-45° angle (or about). My hand is lower as the pen as the pen is orientated north-west (if that makes any sense to you) at a, as I said, 30 to 45 deg angle to the display.

I have been using it extensively since I bought it for writing and drawing sketches and I am very satisfied with it. I actually think it's much better at handling the pen than my Note 8 was.

If the pointer is not just under the tip on yours, and you have the january update, then something is wrong with the pen or at least with the calibration of it on your tablet. Or, stupid idea maybe, the battery ?

Did you buy the bundle or the tablet and the pen separately ? Although that should not make any difference, I bought a second pen to be safe and it works exactly like the one I got in the bundle.

I actually ordered a second tablet to try and the issue was almost the same with the same pen. So maybe the culprit is the pen which I bought from Asus directly.

I have the Note 10.1 and that one has the offset but much much less so it is bearable. The offset on the Asus tablet is not bearable to me.

The asus pen seems to offer more pressure levels but the down side is that it us heavier and needs a battery to operate unlike the wacom/samsung pens.

Thanks for your detailed replies. That helps.
