Graphite is not a K3. It was the low cost 6 inch kindle that was the last of the button models. Ok, they took all 3. I had to go through customer service to get the $40 of bonus applied to the Voyage order for 2 of the kindles - the system would only apply the first $20.

Honestly, if I had only ONE device that worked well, I wouldn't have bothered. I like my keyboard kindles. I kept one for that reason. But, I also have 2 ereader Nooks. I have a gadget hoarding problem, I think. So, turning in 2 iffy kindles and one I wasn't in love with will hopefully result in a happy face when I get the Voyage on Wednesday.

Well I went to Best Buy to have a look at the Voyage. They do not have the Voyage on display!! Sales person said that Kindle people tell them which models to display.Isn't that a kicker...one would think they would display their expensive Voyage. Anyway, maybe I should hold out...maybe there is a Voyage2 sometime soon??

My Best Buy Never had the PW3 nor the Voyage on Display. IF they are suppose to be helping Amazon sell the Fires & Kindles they do a pi$$ poor job!

If they didn't have them at the store, chances are, they weren't selling them at that store. YET. I noticed when looking at the Best Buy store links that neither the Voyage nor the PW3 will be available at the stores until later this week. Maybe Christmas crunch was an issue?

Well PW3 & Voyage Both been out since Summer! Cant see how Christmas Crunch applies! I been asking about them in my store 2xs a month! Same old Bull "its the vender fault they do the display"

Well I jumped in and sent back a 5th generation Kindle. Got $33.60 for it plus the $20. Put that towards a Voyage which I just ordered. I am hoping the Voyage be a help for my age related vision problems.

It all went smooth and the response from Amazon was just shy of a week.

I got my Voyage yesterday (a day earlier than the link said). Overall, it's easy to read and I like the light and pseudobutton. It is very light, it is small. Most of my grumbling is simply due to it being DIFFERENT than what I was used to. I am NOT happy about the power usage. I read a cozy for about 3 hours yesterday and was down to half battery power! On my Kindle keyboard, I can read 3 ebooks before recharging. Ok, I accept that more power would be needed for the light, but still. (whine)

Now, I did NOT turn off the wireless, so I'm going to try turning that off and recharging and trying again. This was intended to be an 'at home' device since I have 2 other devices that are take-a-long, but still, I was surprised by the power consumption. I'm accustomed to just plugging in the ereaders once a week to recharge, and heck, I have had to recharge the next day!?

Katie, you wondered which would be better. I'll check out Best Buy tomorrow (I know they have a PW3 as of tomorrow) and post here. Both have 300 DPI and 24 light levels - PW3 requires YOU to set the light levels while Voyage has option to set automatic adjustment. PW3 is a bit larger and heavier. So far, that's all I can tell you until I try one.

Maybe give it a few charges and discharges before concluding that the power consumption is so much--it'll probably take a little while for the battery monitor to get calibrated. Also, if you loaded a number of books on it shortly after getting the Voyage, it does consume more power while it's indexing the books you've added.

I keep the wifi on my Voyage off and it lasts a good while. I usually plug it in before it's below 50% and that's probably on average about a good three weeks of reading. My reading varies but I usually average about 1/2 an hour a day. I don't think the light causes too much drain on the battery--my light is usually set at between 11 and 14.

Yes, someone in another thread also suggested indexing could be sucking a lot of power. Honestly, the power is my only issue with it. If I went on vacation, I'd be taking the Kindle Keyboard 3G I have left because the 3G allows me to download without wifi. No way I would pay $70 extra for that feature! Note: my vacations these days mostly involve housesitting in the country. My days of travel are limited.

You can still sideload Katie. For most people though, the 3G is about using your Amazon products, not seaching the web, while away from home, as free wifi access is limited or non-existent in many areas. When I was housesitting for my brother, it was impossible for me to download audiobooks from the hospital's wifi because it was so darn slow it kept crashing. Had no problem downloading it to the 3G keyboard kindle (although I was surprised it would do it). I learned after that to load up the nano on my visits home.
