Kindle Voyage now available has better screen

I love my KV!

As I have said before, sometimes I see very minor differences in color on the screen, sometimes I don't. This leads me to believe that either my visual cortex is disintegrating or (preferably) that it is natural to see some shadowing depending on the ambient lighting and the way one holds the device. I usually forget about it within a couple minutes of starting a book so it's no big deal. I feel no need to buy another one until mine falls apart or there is an update of real substance.

As far as e-ink being as advanced as it can be, that is also OK with me. Except for color e-ink, I don't think the screen could be much better. But color?

It is perfectly natural to see that depending on how the screen is turned.
I got colors out in the sun today on my basic kindle.
It is how light works.

More specifically, it's how diffraction gratings work, and the Kindle's light guide is a diffraction grating. (As I understand it, the reason you don't see a rainbow effect with the Kindle's built-in light is that LED light is nearly monochromatic. The reason you don't see a *strong* LSD-trip rainbowing when the Kindle is exposed to any non-LED, non-laser external light source light is because very little of the light is diffracted when it enters from that direction. It's a clever piece of design!)

I don't think this is accurate because the color problem remains in the same orientation when you're reading in landscape.

I am sorry you feel so misguided by your experiences. Perhaps you should sell your Voyage and leave the rest of us to be happy with our choices. After all, good or bad, they are our choices. You can make your own without berating the rest of us.

It seems odd that the Voyage is the only Kindle reader with the screen problem. Sure seems like a design problem due to the outer glass being so far from the e-ink screen.

I already did.

FWIW, post pictures of the screens in landscape mode which is when the problem is most annoying because the screen goes from warm to cool with every line of text.

Sorry...I looked in the other thread, and I couldn't find a post that says which is which. Can you point me to it, please?

Also, as I said in the original post in the other thread, I posted the pictures with the settings I use to read. I guess I could change orientation of the PW3 and the Voyage to landscape, and take more pictures, but I don't know how to do that for the Kobo.

And even with "time left in X" or any other progress indicator hidden you could tell the last one is a Kindle because of the ginormous gaps between words: "and_______Gladia____if____you____don't".
