Hey guys
Thank you so so much for your massive feedback, your opinion and a lot of information. I've decided to buy a voyage – page turn when it's cold and weight seem a huge plus for me. Like they said in the other thread (thanks for the link, Brian): it's smaller and lighter. Yep it is, so big plus for me and my rare space in my all-day bag I must admit that I wanted to buy a paperwhite before I asked you. Now I am sure that the voyage will be my perfect e reader! I am so excited about it, I already ordered it and it will be mine in a few days!!!

@Harry: Sorry that I've posted in the wrong thread

Yes and yes! I want BOTH of those. I've been saving up for a 60-80" TV. But then I saw my son's new HD projector and now I want one of those too. He has a pretty large pull-down screen for it, but I want one the size of my whole wall! And a nice surround-sound system to match.

It's cheaper than having to purchase a pair of "specialized" gloves.
I have purchased a pair of cheap leather gloves with inside insulation. Genuine leather, generic "thinsulate" (TM) lining, purchased in a store specializing on cheap [totally non-brand] garments and shoes imported from Asia, the price was about 8Euro.
I was surprised to find out that the gloves work on my e-ink reader with capacitive touchscreen. It is no big deal, because I also have pageturning buttons. It is convenient when I need to select something from the menu.

Also, a device with capacitive touchscreen might work even in [non-special] gloves when you put it into a ziploc bag or use polyethylene layer. Try it. I did not believe when I was told, but it only takes a few seconds to test. Grab a plastic bag, insert reader, touch screen ;-).
I wish I knew that the touch-screen works inside the bag when I was on vacation on the beach.

My motorcycle gloves with fabric work on my cellphone, when they're a little moist from riding,
much harder when they're dry.

My thick leather gloves, with sheep wool insulation for the bike, doesn't work.

My other gloves, standard, with some >2mm rubber layer doesn't work, but some thin fabric on those same gloves <1.5mm do work.

I have to agree with this. I did buy a Voyage prior to the PW being upgraded to 300 dpi. I do like the flush screen of the voyage and the haptic page turn buttons. The automatic brightness adjustment is nice too. But, I don't think those additions are worth the $80 difference.

Same here. I bought mine last Feb. Had the 300 dpi Carta screen PW been available, I'd have bought that, instead.

They are to me. The glass screen of the Voyage results in a sharper and crisper image than the plastic screen of the PW; that's very significant.

Harry I have to agree with you on the sharper and crisper image over the plastic screen. I am reading more and faster with the voyage than I could with my PW2

Completely agree. The contrast on the Voyage is much better and makes reading easier.

Interesting to see the different opinions here. I was in Best Buy the other day and they had a PW3 and a Voyage on display. The screens looked very similar to me. Admittedly, not the best environment to perform a comparison.

But, I definitely see a significant difference between my PW2 and my Voyage.

Now, I have to admit I really love my Voyage and don't regret purchasing it for a minute. But if I were looking to by a Kindle now, I'd definitely lean toward the PW3.

Your and Kolja's evaluations of the screen differences between the PW3 and the Voyage are very important for me as I now have a PW2, and during the Winter I will buy an upgraded Kindle: I have been oscillating between the two a rather too long time now.

For me the Voyage's sharper, crisper image and higher/better contrast are the factors that definitively will make me spend more money on this device.

This and for also I must have page buttons. Even if they are just haptic, I must have them. So yes I pay more for that. And the flat screen is really nice when you have a cat in the house.

But my eyes just love the screen of the Voyage. Something about it different as the PW and readability and buttons are worth it for me. I don't really have a choice. I am very happy with my Voyage.

Yes, for me the text on the screen of the Voyage almost seems to "float" above the screen. I used to get that effect with the old Kindles before frontlighting was introduced, but the Voyage is the first illuminated reader I've had that does it. I think it's the glass screen.

Yes, that is it. The Voyage brought back that feeling I has when I read on my non lighted kindles. The letters are on the top like paper. Its the first lighted for me that has that same look. While the PW had a more window effect for me. Where the letters are more inside milk. I am not describing this good. They are inside, rather than on top. So for me the Voyage is best as far as readability. I have only owned myself a PW1, but I have had a chance to play with a recent one from a friend and although the new PW screen is light years better than my PW1, its still not like the Voyage.

Not saying that most would notice that, but my eyes are finicky and not the greatest and the letters on top like on Voyage, work better for me. Easier.
