The shipment from the factory has arrived, and they should now be shipping out units. If mine arrives by December 24th I'll shall report here and eat humble pie. (I haven't received any personal notice of shipping yet.)

I'm quite impressed by the look at the unit. A bit more refresh flash than one would expect in a recent ereader, but if it can run the Android Kindle app, it will be even more useful than I'd expected.

I didn't receive a "personalised" notification, but I did receive an email from Fedex with the tracking number this morning, and it looks like it left Netherlands already.

They are saying we in the UK should get it on Christmas Eve, though I still haven't had a delivery email either from Icarus or DPD. But if it comes between Christmas and new year that's also fine as I'll be around to receive it.

They must be shipping in the priority of large distance then. I am on the west side of the Atlantic, so takes some time to cross the ocean. England is a bit closer in, can be shipped later to arrive at the same time. Not necessarily the most reasonable way to go about it, but I suppose that's one way to manage the volume of orders and still keep to their promise.

Try buying one from Australia
I am keen to get one of these (8-inch Icarus Illumina XL with Android 4.2) and have been trying to buy one from the Icarus website, but it just tells me that "No Shipping options are available"
It would seem that we are far to remote to considered as customers down under! This is in spite of their claim that they ship worldwide

Anyone got any suggestions?

John - as they are just shipping to crowdfunding backers, perhaps orders are suspended /not yet open for others. Suggest you try again after Christmas when that early phase should be completed.

Thanks but Icarus have solved the problem which was at their end.
I must say they promptly answered my email and then sent me another one when the shipping problem was fixed. Some sort of computer gremlin at their end.

Anyway I am extremely impressed by their prompt and efficient response.
