Next spring is the earliest that it could be released, given that PVI's 9.7" screens won't be available until then. I suspect we'll see a whole lot of new readers towards the middle of 2009, based on the larger screens which should then be available.

There will definately be upgraded versions with a 6" screen, see Astak Site With "MobiEbook" Sales & Support. For the larger screen V9, see when will Hanlin V9 release?.

hi chaps

I bit the bullet and recently purchased a bebook (hanlin clone). so far Ive had just under a week to play with it and I am over the moon! I liked the lit parser, but its still a bit buggy, but rtf and fb2 have been the best formats so far.

I have found pdfs to be a bit hit and miss - it depends on what format the pdfs are, Im very lucky in that my pdfs comes out ok (not quite sure why!!), but in the bebook forums not everyone has had the same luck, with pdfs you get three zooms - first shows you the whole page, depending on the pdf font etc the text is usually too small, the second zoom cuts of the margin spaces and although the writing is very small, it is readable, the last zoom rotates the page and effectively splits the page in half - text is very readable on pdf books, although the text on a lot of comics are still a tad small. Pictures are okay given the spec of the bebook, but I found on some pictures that had writing on them to be illegible (depends if your pdf was optimised or not).

I think bang for buck, the hanlin clones are excellent value for money. btw because all the clones are the same (effectively re-badged hanlins), you can also try different hanlin firmwares if you want to try a different parser.

So far Im sticking to the bebooks firmware (it seems to be jinke hanlins firmware with extra bits tacked on), but i am looking for an english lbook firmware (another hanlin clone), I think I remember that was referred to as better firmware than jinkes.
