When using the PC link cable (in my desktop), my cybook 'freeze-up'. On the desktop of my work cybook not 'freeze-up'.

Finally:

a) To charge the battery I use USB charger.

b) To add books (in SD Card) I use the USB adapter / SD Card.

I need to do some serious investigation on my cybook. Mid-way through a book, last night, on a page-flip, it started to re-boot then froze.
After a reset it then froze again on the boot screen.
It made it back to the book at the third attempt, but bookmarks, which I had deleted, were still there and in the 'wrong' place for me to continue reading...

I've made up my mind. If I get my cybook on time for my vacation next week (the tracking-site from fed-ex claims it is in the possession of Dutch-customs since the 22nd ), I will not upgrade to 708.
Maybe when I get back, but right now I'm looking forward to three weeks of reading, not to three weeks of system-hang-ups and frustration....

Well, I did have a few weeks trouble-free after upgrading...

The Dutch costums? Why? My readers went through the customs 3 times. No problem at al. It is coming from France and transport within the EC.

I think it is smart not to upgrade. It should be working when you get it, and the 'upgrade' is not really sensational. Experimenting is something you do when you can easily fall back on a working configuration

Probably because mine comes from NAEB (= USA), for me the difference between 450 euro and 375 DOLLAR (= 238 euro) is too much, even when I have to pay 40 euro VAT. Of course it is crazy to send a reader two times across the Atlantic (Greenpeace won't like it, and me neither), but when it saves me 200 euro I'll do it anyway. Just shows how much we are ripped-off in Europe.

Did you buy the Deluxe package? AI...that realy is expensive for the extra's that you get. I bought a 'standerd' one and a seperate cover. The problem with buying in the US is the waranty. It is nog 'good' in Europe, but is is horrible in de US for a person from outside the country

No, I had the choice between buying a standard package and a cover in Europe, which comes to 350 + 40 = 390 euro (I really wanted a cover even before all the horror-story's about breaking screens), or the package of NAEB, which has a cover, a SD-card, earphones (could do without those ) and a USB-charger for 375 dollar.
So now I have a standard package AND a cover AND a SD-card AND earphones AND a USB-charger (with an American plug ) for less than a standard package in Europe .

And when I see what kind of warranty you got I can do without it entirely. When my screen breaks without my fault it's a goner. I'm not going to pay for something that isn't my fault.

I just found another reason not to buy in America...
I phoned Dutch mail because NAEB shipped my reader at 16/7/2008 (that’s 13 days ago) and I would like to know where it is and how long it will take to get here.
My reader arrived just yesterday in the clearing-department of Dutch customs and it still can take up to 10 business days before I get my reader. So it will actually take me a full month to get my reader

Chances are, you'll get a new Gen3 with 708 already flashed.

Its Dutch customs...They got the reader at the 22nd and are planning to keep it until somewhere next week.................or the week after that....... And why??? I guess they think its a bomb .....
Really, if you can avoid it, don't go living in the Netherlands, government is worse than in an average 'banana-republic'

Mwahh...the main problem is that you tried to import something from the US and not from France. It is cheaper that way, but it obviously comes with a price. I guess they are not trusting anything that comes from the US

These things are exactly the reason that I bought in France. It is more expensive, but it saves a lot of hassle.
