I sent Amazon a polite email complaining about a decades long customer not being able to get the new customer price, and they gave me the deal.

She's in Canada on vacation right now so I can't contact her. Even if her cell phone worked there, she's an old lady so it wouldn't even be turned on.

This is such a good deal! But i have no time to watch movies. I purchase about 5 Times per year. Trying to justify getting prime. ... help please!

Well in addition to the movies, you also get Prime Music library, so free streaming. You also get a free pre-release e-book once a month from a selection of 4-6 books. And you can check out one e-book a month from the Kindle Owners Lending Library (you have to have an eInk Kindle or one of the Fire tablets to take advantage of that though, Fire phone might count, not sure).

If you take advantage of all of that even occasionally, it pays for itself. And the free two day shipping is very, very nice.

They changed that last month and made it much more restrictive.

But with a change to its policies at the end of July, Amazon now only allows a Prime member to share their Prime benefits with one other adult.

What’s more, anyone sharing an account has access to each other’s credit cards to make purchases. That’s obviously not a problem for spouses or significant others who live together and share their financials, but it does put a damper on sharing your Prime benefits with extended family members, or with your friends or roommates, for example.

I think they left what existing members had set up alone, but you won't be able to add more people back as you remove them if you were over the limit of one.

Before the recent changes, I remember that Amazon required you to live at the same address but didn't actually check. If they can cancel your account for not following the terms and conditions I wouldn't want to take the chance anyway.

I didn't get around to posting at the time but I want to say a belated thanks for this thread. After a free month's trial I had just signed up and paid for a year of Prime for the first time in September for $99, and after seeing this thought I'd try asking customer service if I might redeem the deal somehow the day it was on. They were great and simply credited me back $32. I have to say, I love Amazon customer service and I'm loving Prime too.

You're quite welcome. Glad you were able to get it at the sale price. Prime's a great feature set.

Unfortunately for many of us, Amazon closed the gifting loophole we were using to get the sale price. So we struck out this time around.
