Glo hd or Aura H2O?

Oh I do haha! Having both would be nice but honestly I don't know what I would do with two ereaders... I have always wondered what people do with multiple readers actually. I see here that many people have a few different models including the Glo HD and Aura H2O. If I can make good use of both then I would definitely get both. I currently have the Glo HD but I have been strongly considering exchanging it for the H2O. The waterproofing is awesome and the extra screen size might be really nice. I heard it's also built better with a higher quality feel. Honestly the H2O was my first pick but I figured the higher screen resolution on the Glo HD was more important. Expandable storage is irrelevant to me. It's just that lately I feel like I have been giving up a lot for the 300ppi screen of the Glo. But if someone here can explain the benefit to multiple devices then I will simply buy the H2O rather than exchange my Glo HD for it.
Until then, if you could choose only one, between the Glo HD and the H2O, what would you choose and why? Is the higher resolution of the Glo HD worth giving up the waterproofing, higher quality build and feel, and extra 0.8 inches on the screen?

Buy more than one ereader because each fits a need.. Bought Kobo wifi then another while waiting for warranty replacement. Bought kobo touch which was big improvement over 4 way switch page turn button. I bought a Sony T1 for myself great price and features. I bought 2 Sony T1 for gifts. Gave away my 2 old Kobo wifi as gifts. Bought Kobo mini. Kobo mini is great and is always with me because of small size. Wish they made one with front light. Might buy Glo HD also.

The sad part is people keep mentioning the Glo HD or Voyage for the higher screen resolution with that being an advantage over the Aura H2O. I have to assume the same people like to watch their favourite television programming on a 7 inch screen since it has higher PPI than a 60 inch screen with both having the same 1920x1080 screen resolution. In my opinion, in the case of the Voyage (1430x1080), Glo HD (1448x1072) and Aura H2O (1430x1080), the minimal differences in screen resolution should not be a factor in a purchasing decision. The difference in screen density? That's up to the individual being able to discern the difference.

My personal choice was for the Aura H2O as a replacement for my Aura HD. I lost a few pixels but felt the Carta screen made the H2O the better device. I still have other Kobo ereaders plus the ones that I have gifted to family and friends. The external uSD card slot was a plus factor since I have quite a few cookbooks and technical manuals on my ereader. Both categories tend to have lots of images/illustrations leading to larger sizes (current record holder clocks in 227MB for Farm to Table) so I currently have about 6GB used on the external uSD card. Upgrading the internal storage isn't that hard but I prefer not to pop my ereaders open without a good reason.

Of course, if I was a online reviewer, I would complain the Aura H2O is bigger and heavier than the Voyage or Glo HD. Hmmm.... my 60 inch television is larger and heavier than my Nexus 7. Advantage: Nexus 7!

I have an H2O and a 6 inch Aura. The H2O seems just about perfect to me but I still use the smaller Aura when I'm going to be carrying it around. The only improvements I could imagine for the H2O are wireless charging and USB transfer so the port cover wouldn't be needed, and possibly color.

I was perfectly happy using just the Aura for the year or so I had it before the H2O arrived. I'm still very fond of it; there's something about its combination of size and proportions and flush bezel that I just find very appealing. If they'd made an updated Aura instead of an updated Glo I would have ordered one. The Glo doesn't tempt me much.

I also have Kindles, most recently a PW1 and a Voyage. I liked the PW1 but passed it along to my husband in favor of the Aura. I can't work up any enthusiasm over the Voyage; mine is two-toned enough that the text on the top section of the screen seems to recede into the distance.

I set up Cool Reader to make all the tap-zones except center turn the next page. I back-swipe to go back. This means it works one-handed no matter what hand I use.

Why would you pick an Aura over the Glo HD?

Good question. I suspect he would do so due to the SD card slot on the Aura.

When I broke my Aura, I mourned it, but I did not buy another. I bought the Glo HD.

I believe he favors the flat screen and capacitive touch. Both things which I dislike immensely and will avoid in ereaders. But that's why there are choices, to keep us all happy.

I sold my h2o and bought a gloHD with the money : 6,8’’ was too big for me + coming from a sony, the weight 200g with cover over 233+150g. I love the gloHD which fit, even with it’s cover (180+106g), in my jacket inner pocket. Even with the sony i didn’t need more than 2go of memory (using calibre as itunes for my old ipod) and 4 go seems quite capable to hold anything from now until my final rest

hi why not? the aura has refresh every chapter and also a sd card slot the glo HD as neither, ive compared the aura and the glo HD side by side in my opinion the glo HD may have very minimal screen improvement if at all, to me its not that different from the original glo , and as far as im concerned it certainly isn't worth buying in a million years not when i already have the aura it would be a total waste of money, i will wait and see if kobo can come up with something significantly better if not i will stick with my aura until i have no choice, thanks for your response.

hi, it's partly because of the reasons you mentioned but not entirely, the main reason is in my opinion the glo hd or the h20 before it or even the aura hd before that ARE JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH IMPROVEMENTS OVER THE KOBO AURA AND THAT'S IT FULL STOP.

best wishes koboy.

Have you ever looked at the Aura next to a Glo HD or an H20? Not just pictures, but actual in-hand comparisons. Most who have the Aura alongside other readers to do a real comparison say the text is sharper on the other readers, even sharper on the regular Glo, possibly because of the extra capacitive layer.

hi, yes i have compared most of kobos e- readers in hand as you say, from the mini which i have and i also have a touch although if the aura had come out before the touch i wouldn't have bought the touch, i am more than happy to stick with my little mini and my aura, if something is doing the job you want it to do at 100% which i feel my aura and my mini do then why change just for the sake of changing? it's like the old saying if something isn't broke then why fix it, thanks for your response.

best wishes koboy.
