No idea what that is supposed to mean...

That's what it sounded like to me. I just wondered if you could pick and choose to clean out the memory. All the info said was remove books.
If you are right, that's great. Won't be like my hardcover collection where I bought the cookbook for only one recipe and it eventually winds up in the ARC. |

I have quite a few cookbooks on my Kindle. The print and copy/paste functions in Calibre work great for recipes if the book is DRM-free. For simple one-page recipes, I typically just lay the Kindle face down on my copier and make a copy of the page. The disadvantage to this is that you can't edit the recipe unless you run it through an OCR program. With Calibre, you can copy a recipe and paste it into a word processing program, then edit or add your own notes easily.

I've done copy and paste HTML into LibreOffice. Exporting as PDF looks better.
If I can get a PDF into Adobe Illustrator, I can also edit. I usually tend to do PDF editing with Illustrator. I just retyped the one or two recipes I wanted. I quit buying cookbooks and look up online. I was getting annoyed at the waste of $ for one recipe. If Kindle stores the book in the cloud, then it's available should I want to check on any more recipes. When I get enough recipes, I can probably start my own cookbook. Adobe Indesign writes editable PDF. I can lay out pages to my taste in sections. Since I plan to keep quilting designs on the Kindle, too , being able to print one section in Calibre will be really welcomed. If need be, will get another used kindle for craft room. |

I'd say get a tablet, a folding stand and a screen protector!
Normally cookbooks or crafts books look nicer in colour and you can use the Amazon Kindle application on most tablets. While I absolutely love my eInk Kindles, when I want to look at cookbooks or photography books, my iPad always wins. The Kindle versions of those even include nice colour pictures that are wonderful on the Kindle app. Main difference, of course, will be battery time, but if you recharge daily, that should not be much of an issue. PS, and no, a Kindle is *not* sturdy. Drop it once (not much of an issue for most tablets), the fragile eInk might very well scatter. I broke my first Kindle 3 weeks after having bought it simply by putting it into the bag together with my iPad and phone. I always cringe when I see one of the Amazon ads where someone puts their Kindle without any kind of cover into the backpacket of their jeans. Recipe for disaster IMO.
