There is no storage limit with Evernote but there is a 4GB monthly upload limit for Evernote Premium so it have to done in batches over two months. If you use free your upload limit is 60MB a month but again storage is unlimited.

I tried Evernote for my recipes but I found it clumsy, and not really practical. I tried a wide variety of apps before I stumbled on Paprika Recipe Manager. Now this one is really good. When I want a recipe from the net I just click and the app downloads the recipe page to my tablet in the standard recipe format. So easy not having to make copies and cut and pasting. If I'm in a hurry it will generate my shopping list, the recipes can be categorized in my own categories and are easy to find. The cloud sync means if I forget my tablet I can borrow from whoever we are visiting and get a recipe from my free cloud account. The only thing this app doesn't do is the cooking and since that's the part I love we make a great team.
Now my husband has discovered my secret he downloads his barbecue recipes, thanks for the categories.... ![]() |

Can anyone recommend a recipe app that works in metric measurements, rather than US units? I find measurements like "cups" of flour and "sticks" of butter to be completely incomprehensible

I don't care about tactile and sensuality of cookbooks (sensuality? Really? I can't recall my cookbooks ever providing that. I must be buying the wrong ones!) I buy the book versions because I don't own a Kobo H2O and don't want to risk my laptop or Kindle in the kitchen!
I have downloaded soap recipes onto my Kindle (because the Kindle books are MUCH cheaper) but I often write the recipe down and take it into the kitchen. I have a few very nice glossy, color, print cookbooks. I don't take those in the kitchen either. Maybe those are the sensual ones. They were expensive and I'm a holy mess in the kitchen with flour, sauces, water and other ingredients flying about. When I make chocolate...oh never mind. You get the picture. The one staple print cookbook I own that resides in the kitchen has more ingredients ON the pages then in the pages...it also has a slight burn mark on the cover too. Interestingly enough, my mom has the original version of this cookbook and hers has a HUGE burn mark across the cover! |

All my newer cookbooks are digital, if I could convert the paper ones too it would make me very happy. Many of my old clipped or handwritten recipes I've taken photos of and work from those on my iPad.

Kitchen calculator Pro for iOS is the one that I use. It will also do weight to volume ( and vice versa) conversations using USDA data for a large number of common ingredients. |

I have bought digital cookbooks in the past, but I have to admit I rarely remember to use them. Correction. Never remember to use them. I was excited to find the Women's Weekly ones, but the range is limited and the subscription options confusing.
Now, googling for recipes and bringing my phone or iPad into the kitchen, that's different. I recommend a sturdy cover. That wasn't enough to save an iPad screen when I dropped a cast iron saucepan on it, admittedly. |

I usually check America's Test Kitchen first when I am looking for recipes. I have been a subscriber to their Cook's Illustrated Magazine since 1993.

Every time I get out Maggie's Harvest, I can't resist stroking the embroidered cover for a while before looking up a recipe. Definitely sensual!
