I get about the same brightness as in your "lights on" picture with my PW2's light is set to 14. But mine is creamier in color, not as green. When I set my PW2's light to 21 like in your picture, mine is much brighter, just a tad creamy in its whiteness. If those pictures truly represent your PW2 (I'd call it greenish and dully lit), then take it into a store and compare, as it seems way off. |

Are you sure you don't have to send yours in? That's not the way it normally works. Even with an old PW1 that they were going to send me a PW2 refurb on, they wanted the PW1 back and were ready charge, get this, $20.00 if I didn't. You'd better double-check that. You'll probably get an email telling you what to do. Watch for it. |

Good deal! Didn't realize that you're out of the US. Makes sense. No idea if you can get a replacement on that. That's an Amazon question.

Honestly, Dave, whether your screen is "good" or not is purely a matter of personal perception. Your photographs look absolutely fine to me. I don't think you can really say that your Kindle is faulty. |

How can the same product have so much variation? Pick 10 ipads and you will get exact same screen. Amazon has poor quality control. Its not like they are manufacturing the eink screen. The company Eink does that. Amazon just sticks the touch layer and light layer on top of that. Last edited by Dave329; 12-10-2014 at 05:16 AM. |

Dave329 I'm seeing a huge amount of red-green colour artefact from what I assume is a mobile phone camera. Makes it hard to see anything else.

This thread made me wonder if I got a PW with dull light too.
The light of my PW seems even, yet it has a grey/blue tint which is particulary visible with lower brightness settings in dark environments. If I set the brightness to 24 the light seems ok. Yet If I read at night with a sidelamp with 10-14 setting the screen has a "glowing" effect which I find distracting. Is it supposed to be like that? I also read that you should be able to read reasonably well in total darkness with the light set to 0. My screen is almost dark at 0 and I start to see something at 5-6. I'd say that reading begins to be reasonable at 8-11, but the screen is far from being white. Is it the same for you? |
