I know... I just manually assembled my first one. I was mostly surprised at how quickly and smoothly Mobi Reader handled the conversion process. It's a great demonstration of the concept of buying ePubs and having your preferred reading SW auto-convert them for you.

This is exactly what we need, It will ensure that Content is available to the masses and you will not have to worry about which device has the titles you would like to read. Publishers will be sending out just the one to all vendors. Yes there will probably be DRM involved at that point but at least I wont be sitting here wishing I had a Brand X Reader because they have the latest Copy of ________.

Which is why I think the value of ePub is as the master format used by a publisher. The reader may not be able to read an ePub file directly, but it will readily convert to a format the reader can use.
