I was ignernt after all. But I admitted that I was ignernt about Bluefire it in the first message--"thankfully, I haven't had to become familiar with the format." And, I hope to be able to stay that way based on the negative remarks about it.

If we make them our enemies, then they'll keep all of their avocados, cilantro and sweet pickles for themselves. We'll have to settle for sandwiches that taste the way God intended them to.

Yes, I know. I was just making fun of the Californian habit of putting avocado, cilantro and sweet pickles on every sandwich or hamburger that gets made. They do get much tastier avocados than we do here by Chicago, though.

If you will follow the link that Fbone gave, http://bookperk.com, and click on any one of the four books offered for free, there will be a link to "e-books under $2" near the top left corner. If you click on it, you will go to a page which gives, apparently (so it says near the top left corner of the page), 1,860 results.

The first results are pre-order only, but then you get into the ones that are available immediately. The books are priced at $0.99, $1.99, and maybe other prices below $2.00. These all look to be special prices, lower than what HarperCollins will be selling them for later. You will also see some scattered free books, but the first four, at least, are all samplers.

If you are thinking, "yes, but I don't want to have the use the Bluefield reader or deal with conversion issues," I've got good news. If you click on one of the "pre-order" or buy now" buttons, as the case may be, you will go to a page where you will see a link (under the "pre-order; add to cart" button" or the "buy now" button, as the case may be) which says "view more retailers." If you click on that link, you will go to a page that gives a list of retailers, where you can buy or get free, as the case may be, the ebook. And, the ebook will be in the format in which that retailer sells its ebooks (e.g., Amazon will be in Kindle/mobi)--not the Bluefield format--and for the same price that HarperCollins has them!

You know what to do now.(ha) As far as I'm concerned, I'm overwhelmed by the list, and I'm just going to have to put a bookmark or leave the tab open and go through the list of ebooks tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I didn't find any way to get the four freebies that Fbone found in any other format than Bluefield--it seems to be take it or leave it.

I clicked on each book using both chrome and dolphin browsers and nothing happens at all. I did a long press and it looks like they are images only.

I use(d) Chrome. You may have done something wrong, the promotion may have ended, or (more likely) I didn't give the information correctly. I'll check that out and get back to you. I'm not sure that I even bought or, if I bought, downloaded any of the books yet--I got sidetracked on some other bargain ebook adventure shortly after finding it. Ack!

I tried following the steps that I posted, and got the same result that you did. They changed the website since I made my post.

I was interested, myself, in finding out how to get the discounted books now. I had wanted to order some of the books, too, but hadn't "gotten around to it."

Anyway, after quite a bit of work I hadn't been able to find another webpage where I could get what I described in my initial post. I was almost ready to give up and concede defeat, but then I finally found this webpage where we can do what we want to do: http://www.harpercollins.com/search-...rder=relevance. And, more good news: instead of 1,860 ebooks, there are now 1,872! Woo hoo!

What you (can) do then is self-explanatory, but the instructions in my initial post are, I think, still accurate from this point on:
