I saw one, 7" Tab 4, the other day at Best Buy. Not a bad little device. My only concern is with the lack of built in storage. There is only 8GB on board, and only about half of that is available to the user.

Good move. As far as offering a new e-ink device, until B&N comes up with a better strategy to get their ebooks to the customer, find a way to somehow compete with Amazon's KDP, then they'll continue threading water.

And that always been the issue with B&N. I can get books usually about $1 less from Amazon and Amazon occasionally offers books I want at half price or even free! B&N, on the other hand, as far as I know doesn't have sales. If they do, they aren't letting me know. Unless that changes, nothing else will change with B&N's downhill slide.

BN regularly and in multiple ways announces freebies and deals. If one's seeking NOOK freebies and deals, then I suggest s/he read, regularly check, and perhaps subscribe to the:
  • BN.com home page, which contains such information as Deal of Day, Special Offers, various sales, and a "Bargain Books" tab.
  • The NOOK Blog - [maintained by B&N and commented on by readers, who frequently post additional NOOK freebies] - the Free Fridays thread weekly offers a free book, free app, and free video, and sometimes (today included) a "BONUS Free Friday Book". The other threads (App Buzz, Guest Posts, Top NOOK Books, Daily Find, and NOOK Offers) sometimes offer freebies, as well, in addition to sales and news.
  • Facebook, Twitter, or GooglePlus social media sites maintained by BN, which are linked to just about every BN web page.
  • Free NOOKbook summary thread - please no OT - NOOK Community members post links to limited-time NOOK freebies (but typically not Smashwords books, which are relegated to their own threads, such as "Smashwords freebies worth considering"). The thread's first page also links to a list of perennial NOOK freebies.

I'm pretty dedicated to my Kindle but I hope the Nook Tablet can recovery. I'm a firm believer that competition helps the consumer!

I looked at the bargain books and remembered why I quit looking at the B&N sales. Hardcover: $2.99, Nook ebook: $10.99.
