If I did, I have completely forgotten about it. There are some extra ids that suggest there is a hardware revision for the Glo and the Aura HD. It looks like a change to the PCB, so there probably won't be an announcement of any sort.

I predict that a new Kobo will come out, or possibly two, but maybe even three, and then one of the older Kobo's will cease to exist, or possibly two, but maybe even three.

RUMOR FLASH!

I have just been notified by a reliable sauce source that all new Kobo ebook readers will now have removable batteries. (NOTE: R&D is currently working on making the readers fit this newly-developed battery, pictured below.)

Rumor also has it that the battery will last 400 years. As we all know, usage in real-life, such as page turns and the use of a front-light, will decrease actual battery life by as much as 10-15%. (NOTE: Ebook companies typically make these false claims when disclosing battery life.)

Also rumored to be in development is a new front-light technology, code-named the Immersive Front Light Experience ™ which adds an exciting new dimension to one's reading experience.

"We're trying to develop a new generation of e-readers, along with a new generation of readers, whom we see as a discerning group of people who like to stay at home when they read," Dr. Pin O. Chio said, Kobo's newly-hired spokesperson.

But in all seriousness, the first thing I thought was that perhaps Kobo ARE doing something along the lines of the mini or Glo... Why would they do a firmware update on the Mini if it was discontinued - unless they are perhaps considering a backlit version??

Haha... well it is wishful thinking... but would be cheap for them to make, since they already have the "footprint" of the Mini and should only really need to change out for a lighted screen.
