First... You need a box. There's one you can get from USPostalService which measures about 11.5" x 13.5" x 2.5". It is usable for both domestic and international Priority Mail. That one will just fit the Cybook box that your Cybook came in. You'll need to place the Cybook into it and then slide the Cybook box into the USPS one. (I believe they ask for everything back, just in case they send you a new one instead of repair the one you've returned.) There will be room for stuffing, peanuts or those inflated air pillows to fill in the rest of the USPS box. Stuff away. Second, whether you use the one from the Post Office or UPS or FedEx, you'll have to choose whichever shipping that you feel comfortable with (both on price and on delivery speed) and determine, from them, what the cost will be. Remember to insure the package for the full value. And you'll need to mark the RMA number on the shipping label - and I would consider it smart to type up a sheet with your information (shipping address and the like) as well as your RMA number and put that INSIDE the Cybook box on top of the Cybook. If you didn't destroy it in opening it, the FedEx box that the CyBook came in is great for sending it back again!

Thanks. How does USPS do with international tracking? I know Fedex does a lot of international stuff, but the cost seems high.
When you say 'everything back', does that include the case and the extra battery(which was shipped separately)? |

If you're really concerned about tracking send it via Express Mail. Personally, I would send it Registered First Class Mail International. Registered Mail is probably the safest way to send mail overseas. DH and I ship a *lot* of small packages overseas and when we want to be absolutely sure about it getting there (or we're mailing to Russia) we send it registered. Registered Mail is an additional $10.50 so a 2-1/2 lb package to France would cost around US $30 to ship.
You can also ship Priority Mail International, it would cost about the same as a Registered First Class Mail International package but tracking is provided to most *major* destinations. Generally what we see from that tracking is the point of origin and about 50% of the time we'll see that it's delivered. You will generally pay much more shipping via FedEx or UPS overseas. If you decide to ship with the Post Office be sure to go directly to the Post Office, if you use one of the third party shippers such as Mailboxes Etc then they will add a substantial surcharge to the Post Office fees. It's perfectly legal since you are mailing out of the country. HTH |

Thanks, everyone! That's really what I wanted to know. I don't send anything to foreign countries, and I've had enough trouble (lost packages etc) with domestic shipping to be a bit worried.
Yeah, I never send stuff from third party places, I've heard too many horror stories and the PO is just down the street. |
