So, if I understand it correctly,

NAEB first have to place the order with Booken

Then Transfer the funds for the order

Once they get the money, they ship the order to you.

Once you get the order, THEN you charge our credit cards.

If so, how long does the whole process from order to deliver usually take.

I'm curious, as you said that you placed the order on the 14th, so would be intrested to know the turnaround on the order.

Steps...

1) Get pro-forma invoice from Bookeen. (This can take time, days even.)
2) Fill out and file paperwork for International Wire Transfer. (Figure 1 day to file.)
3) The next business day, our bank processes the actual wire transfer. (Add in four hours for the transfer to take place - as far as getting money from our account to the main bank on the East Coast.)
4) Wait for the various banks in France to acknowledge the transfer and move it into Bookeen's account. (This has taken between 4 and 11 days.)
5) Wait for Bookeen's shipment to arrive here - in New York. (Takes between 1-3 days.)
6) Ship and complete the processing of the CC payment. (Takes about a day.)

So it takes at least 6 days. But from the point we ask for the invoice, it can take as many as 14 days. Nearly all the delays are on the end where the money gets to France but hasn't hit Bookeen's bank.

Derek I ordered Cybook #2 last Friday when the count was already 40.

Can I expect to get mine in this (3rd) order or am I bumped to the 4th order?

Or is it 'to be determined later', ala baseball?

If you got an order number you should be okay.

I see. Does it mean we can expect to get the CyBook at the 1st week of June?

Thanks & Regards
David

Derek,

I just submitted an order over the weekend. I did get an email acknowledgement, but wanted to confirm I will actually get a unit from this order cycle.

Thanks,

Paul

I just got this email from them. I assumed the latest order would be for the new model Cybook, so maybe it'll be worth the wait, since I certainly didn't want another one identical to my present Cybook:

Greetings,

I must apologize for being remiss on answering emails the past couple days. We have been trying to work out the details of the May shipment. Unfortunately we have hit a snag. Bookeen has informed us that although they have plenty of Cybook they are currently out of covers. The next shipment of covers is due the first week in June. This means that NAEB won't get the shipment until June 9-12.

There is some good news; because of the delay the next shipment will be the latest version of the Cybook with 512MB of internal memory and the new and improved cover.

We are reopening the May order, making it a June order and bumping the count from 40 units to 60 units. The downside to this is that credit authorizations are only good for 30 days. As a result most of the current ones will have expired. I will be emailing everyone affected the first week in June. At that time people will need to reorder. When you do please mention why and your previous order number. I will be updating peoples orders with "credit authorization expired" to make it easy for everyone to see if it affects them.

If you have any questions please contact us.

ugh! I just noticed today that the "Pending" line item on my credit statement was no longer there... and I was hoping against hope that that meant the real charge was about to come thru,

Seems the covers have been something of a boondoggle for Bookeen, pity a platform brought down (or failed to soar) because of something silly like a cover ("for want of a nail...").

Well... seems I'm still in the market for an eReader (cracking knuckles) back the review pages once more. Hmmm... those Hanlin/BeBook readers seem cool, but Wolf? hmmm... maybe I *will* get a Kindle after all...

This strikes me as being slightly disingenuous. People who placed an order as far back as early April have received the latest version of the CyBook; all the machines that Bookeen received in their early May shipment were the new model.

As far as the cover goes, the cover I got with my new Gen3 was identical to the original one. I don't know in what way it's supposed to have changed. Perhaps the meaning is that a new batch of changed covers is on its way?

I found mine is still in "Pending", and I have sent a request to James. Hopefully the order can be put into the upcoming batch, so that reordering is not needed.

Just wait for a while, at least the date is more certain now.

Thanks & Regards,
David

I may be wrong (Harry will correct me if so) but I think the 'new and improved cover' that James Franks refers to is in actuality a newer casing for the device rather than the separate cover.

This from the Bookeen site:

"Cybook New Edition available for sale
Bookeen is proud to announce the availability of the new edition of the Cybook Gen3. With 512 MB (1,000 books) of internal storage memory, a new firmware version and a revised housing which facilitates navigation, the Cybook becomes the thinnest, lightest device with the largest storage capacity on the market. Go and visit our shop to get more information."

So I think the email was referring to the new housing (casing) rather than the cover. Perhaps the meaning was "Lost in Translation"?

That would make sense, yes! That interpretation of it never occured to me - thanks . Yes, the nav button is very greatly improved on the new model - no more "bulging finger muscles" .
