10 Things Jesus Never Said--Free
UPDATE: Okay, my instincts were correct (this time): Amazon has dropped their price to $0.00 also. Here's a linky: http://www.amazon.com/Things-Jesus-N...aid+will+davis. I think that you have all of the other essential information below. My instincts also lead me to think that this book may be free for only one day, so grab it while you can.
Hello Mobilereaders. I hope that you had a nice Memorial Day. For you in time zones where it is still Monday and are reading this before Monday, I hope that you will have had a nice Memorial Day. For some reason, this year I spent more time than usual, yesterday, thinking about those who have served our country in the armed forces, and especially those who were disabled or gave the ultimate sacrifice for it. The book's free only at Christianbook so far. I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be free on Amazon once it turns midnight there in Seattle. I'll try to post an update if that happens. My posting of this ebook does not necessarily mean endorsement of any doctrinal positions taken in this work. 10 Things Jesus Never Said: And Why You Should Stop Believing Them. By Will Davis. Rated 5 stars from 8 reviews at the present moment at Christianbook; rated 4 1/2 stars from 36 reviews at Amazon at the present moment. Print list price $13.99; digital list price $13.99 (source: Amazon.com); Epub at Christianbook now $0.00. http://www.christianbook.com/things-...B?event=eBooks. Too often Christians carry a lot of guilt and baggage when it comes to their relationship with God. The problem is that so many of us believe unbiblical, damaging things about how critical God is and how fed up he must be with us. But many of the things we think Jesus would say to us--things like "I can't believe you call yourself a Christian," "If you really loved me, you'd try harder," and "I'm so disappointed in you"--are things he never said. The solution, says Will Davis Jr., is to stop believing the lies and start believing the things Jesus did say. In 10 Things Jesus Never Said, Davis unmasks commonly believed myths about our relationship with God and shows readers how to replace this pervasive theology of failure with the truth of how Jesus really feels about them. Discussion questions at the end of each chapter help small groups or individuals apply these truths to their current situations. Anyone who has ever felt that they didn't measure up to God's standards will love this freeing exploration of grace and forgiveness. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 05-29-2014 at 06:24 AM. |

Ebook on Mothers Raising Spiritual Daughters--Free in Multiple Formats
This deal probably will last only until 4 a.m. EST Thursday. It's also available free as an ePub (DRM protected) at Christianbook http://www.christianbook.com/raising...etails#aai-tab. If my thinking above is correct, the deal at Christianbook probably will last until only about midnight tonight. The ePub at Christianbook includes a bonus mother-daughter Bible study of 1 John; I don't know if that is included with the mobi/Kindle at Amazon.
The ebook may be free at other retailers (Barnes & Noble, Kobo, et al.); I did not check them. Raising a Spiritually Strong Daughter: Guiding Her Toward a Faith That Lasts. By Susie Shellenberger. Big Markdown on Sexy Christians Ebook
UPDATE: My sources tell me that this book will be on the big markdown through today, Thursday, May 29. So, you can procrastinate about buying it for a little while longer. haha
This ebook is available (ePub, DRM protected) also at Christianbook (http://www.christianbook.com/christi...G&view=details) and for 20 cents less ($0.79). I feel confident that the deal will be good through the day; how much longer than that I can't say with any confidence. The ebook may be marked way down at other retailers (Barnes & Noble, Kobo, et al.), too; I did not check them. Sexy Christians: The Purpose, Power, and Passion of Biblical Intimacy. By Dr. Ted Roberts; Diane Roberts. Rated 5 stars from 22 reviews at the present moment. Print list price $17.00; digital list price $17.00; Kindle price now $0.99. http://www.amazon.com/Sexy-Christian...lical+Intimacy. Book Description "Sexy Christians." The phrase sounds like an oxymoron, but God never intended it to be. Sexual fulfillment is, in fact, God's idea. Yet many Christians seem to think the more spiritual they are, the less sexual they will be, and the more sexual they are, the less spiritual they will be. Dr. Ted and Diane Roberts want to turn this thinking on its head. Readers will learn why men and women see sex differently, what the greatest aphrodisiac is, and how to avoid the most lethal killer to a great sex life. The authors also explore what men's and women's sexual needs are and why they are so different, what sex is all about from God's perspective, and what the differences are between male and female sexual response cycles. End-of-chapter questions encourage couples to apply the book's principles at home. From the Inside Flap Sexy Christians. Oxymoron? Or words that redefine the way we live? If you think the words sexy and Christians don't belong in the same sentence, think again. God wants your marriage to be filled with joyful, sexy intimacy. In fact, sex was his idea to begin with. If you feel as though something's missing from your relationship, don't give up! Having to work at marriage simply shows you're one real person married to another. In Sexy Christians you will learn why men and women see sex differently, what the greatest aphrodisiac is, and how to avoid the most lethal killer to a great sex life. You'll also discover what men's and women's sexual needs are and why they are so different, what sex is all about from God's perspective, and what the differences are between male and female sexual response cycles. If you want the kind of passionate relationship for which God made you, Sexy Christians is the place to start. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 05-29-2014 at 12:01 AM. |

The New Oxford Annotated Bible with Apocrypha is on sale for $13.25 at Amazon and Google.
This is one of the best academic study Bibles and I highly recommend it, but be aware that Amazon version is AZW4 ("Print Replica"), which is a repackaged PDF (you can actually extract the PDF if you have both Alf's tools and the KindleUnpack plugin installed in Calibre). Amazon also doesn't even allow it to be downloaded to e-ink Kindles (tablet or desktop only). Also be aware that Google's is PDF only and their PDFs are often re-rendered as images rather than text. I don't know if they have in this particular case, but if you're comfortable with Calibre plugins, I'd recommend buying from Amazon. As a sort of bonus, the extracted PDF actually has a full table of contents embedded that isn't usable by the Kindle software, for some reason. If you're considering doing this and haven't before, I'd further recommend that you download the sample (which is also AZW4) and practice on that. Amazon's regular price is around $19, but it occasionally drops by a dollar or two. This is the cheapest I've seen. Other than Google and Amazon, the only place I've seen it available is ebooks.com, where it's $33.99. |

Study Bibles is one area that I don't seek out, but nearly every time you find one and post one I'm glad of it. I'm going to search for loose change in the sofa and in the car seats, and collect some cans along the road (just kidding, it's not that bad) and find a way to buy this one. Actually, I don't see any real disadvantage, to me at least, in not having the e-ink option. I just don't see myself wanting to use a great big study Bible on a Kindle. A PC, or at least a tablet, is most conducive to using a monster like this. However, I wonder if Amazon will ever make updates to these "print replica" books and make them available to us. They make other updates of books available to us; probably all of us have gotten the emails about them and gone to the "manage my Kindle" page to get them. I'm not going to hold my breath, though. I haven't gotten any such updates for all of the "print replica" books so far that I've bought. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 05-29-2014 at 10:05 PM. |

Is Jesus in the Old Testament? Find out with a Free Ebook
UPDATE: You know sometimes how you think you are forgetting something, but just can't quite think of what it is? Well, it happened when I made the post below. What I forgot to mention is that the offer is good for one week only (I received the email about it this morning, Thursday, May 29).
I was unfamiliar with this author before running across this book. I did a little research and found that he writes very highly-rated books. This P&R Publishing freebie is courtesy of Westminster Bookstore. Alas, we do not live in a perfect world: this ebook is free only in the pdf format. You can get the ebook in the mobi/Kindle format, but it is apparently regularly priced, at $2.99. Information about that follows information about the free pdf. My posting of this ebook does not necessarily mean endorsement of any doctrinal positions taken in this work. Is Jesus in the Old Testament? By Iain M. Duguid. Pdf $0.00. http://cl.ly/191k0h2e3p2G. Book Description, from Amazon.com: Many Christians find the Old Testament to be a difficult book and ultimately ignore large parts of it—often because they simply are not sure what to do with it. Yet Iain Duguid maintains that the Old Testament is for Christians too. What is more, Christ is present throughout the Old Testament—in fact, when rightly interpreted, the whole book is about him. Duguid explores what it means to rightly see Christ in the Old Testament and looks at some specific ways the Old Testament prepares us to see and understand Christ’s ministry in the gospels. Is Jesus in the Old Testament? (Basics of the Faith). By Iain M. Duguid. Rated 4 1/2 stars from 9 reviews at the present moment. Print list price $4.99; Kindle price now $2.99. http://www.amazon.com/Jesus-Old-Test...f+the+Faith%29. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 05-29-2014 at 10:34 PM. |

I was sure that the pdf that I downloaded was some 40-odd pages. I went back to check, and it was (in fact, exactly 40 pages). I use Google Chrome as my Web browser most of the time. Before posting the book, I copied the URL and put it into the address box in Internet Explorer and downloaded the pdf again in that browser, thinking that if it did it would probably work fine on anyone else's computer. I may have been wrong. Do me a favor. Please check again and make sure that you don't have 40 pages. If you don't, let me know. It may be necessary for a person to set up an account with the Westminster Bookstore. I was not expecting this or I either would not have posted the book or have made a caveat that you would have to do so. I don't know that much about computers; there may be something that Westminster Bookstore and/or P&R Publishing was able to done and has done that would keep someone (like yours truly) from just giving the Web address out to someone else to download the book without the "someone else" having an account with the Bookstore. If anyone else has problems getting the entire book of 40 pages, would you please PM me? |
