I'll second the E-Luminator suggestion. I've got the M-Edge cases with the E-Luminator slots, but that never worked with a darn for me -- I had to keep adjusting the light because the neck kept twisting back towards its original shape. So I decided to try it "straight on" by using its clip-on feature on the flap of the case -- like you would if you were using the E-Luminator on a book. This works great, and it allows me to use the E-Luminator on non-M-Edge cases (like the original Kindle case for the Kindle Basic). I like the light better than the LED on the lighted Kindle Case. If you don't have a Big Lots near, you can check eBay, where they often sell for less than $5 (including shipping).

Tested out my NST w/Glowlight again and decided -- "no, it's not just my imagination, it causes eyestrain for me." Then I read some more reviews for the Kindle Paperwhite and realized that there are quite a few people who've posted on the Internet who find that they cause eyestrain. (I'm sure it's a minority, but still it seems to be a fairly sizable one.) The "glowlight" reading experience is completely different from using an LED light shining down on the E-Ink surface (which has never been a problem for me). Also that lighting layer definitely makes the "glowlight" models less clear.

So I went ahead and ordered a Kindle Basic (took advantage of the sale) to use as a backup, or to give away at some point. I sure hope Amazon doesn't quit selling this model. As far as I can tell, it has the darkest, clearest font -- although my NST (standard) is pretty close.
