She's over 30 now, so her comments have lost their youthful freshness.
And I tend to avoid human sacrifices. On the whole, I prefer fish. |

There's nothing bad with slicing up a deep on on a stone,in a ring of fire during a night of a lunar eclipse in a nice lilte megalithic gathering place.Tried it once.

My children were taught the correct terms for, well, everything. I see no need in dumbing things down for kids, and think they actually could teach adults a thing or two. Ok, opening preachy opinion out of the way, that brings us to the funny part.
My son was playing catch with a kid from the neighborhood we'll call "Johnny". Poor Johnny took a fastball to a sensitive area, ending the game but leaving my son very confused. He confided later that something was very wrong with Johnny: he didn't have a penis! He peed out of a "bo-bo". |

A former co-worker described for me that one of her sons (she had two boys at ages 4 and 6 at the the time, if I recall correctly) asked her where babies came from. She decided to tackle this one by explaining everything to them using the official technical terms for all body parts and actions.
When her husband came home that night, he asked the kids what they had done that day, and the youngest one said, "We learned where babies come from!" "Well, where do they come from?" he asked. "From China!" replied the youngest one. |

As a toddler, my daughter was convinced that you ordered babies from the Mothercare catalogue.
I found her with a small friend, arguing which baby they preferred ('That one's nicer. She comes with a pink dress.') . So that evening I told her where babies came from. She just looked at me and said, 'Don't be silly.' |

Now he's 14 and he and his friends are fairly comfortable asking me sensitive questions. The latest was that they wanted to know what a douchebag is. Since I hear them calling their peers that I felt it was an excellent idea to actually understand what the term means. |

I have yet to meet a woman using a douchebag.
Oh wait ... I probably never will, I'm married now ![]() Quote:
This coming from a father-to-be ![]() Oh, and I'd like to point out, most Austrians know that there's a space after punctuations ![]() And the -ová attachment is only being done in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Once you're in Austria, you usually stick to one form or the other (meaning mother, father and child share the last name). It really is a weird concept, the -ová thing. Then again, I respect my wife for giving up the name she used for 30+ years and took mine. Even if mine is cooler ![]() Giving up one's last name is, too, a weird thing. Sorry, no kid-quotes to post here. The only thing that we all crack up about is when my brother was in first grade, learning how to read and put letters together. He knew how to read the "L" and the "O". So he was supposed to read "LO", and just wouldn't get it. We tried to show him how to combine the two letters. He could read the "L", and read the "O", and even speak them properly. But when put together , suddenly, the "L" and the "O" became "MO". Man, we were frustrated. We thought he'd have to go to special ed or something. Now he's the one finishing university, while his smart-ass brother (me) dropped out after a few years to start something new. When I was very young I believed that all dogs were the males and cats were the corresponding females. The troublesome part is that I believed this at an age late enough that I can remember it.

Heh, I used to think that salt and pepper were opposites (yes, I remember thinking this too, but I have some memories all the way back to ~3 years old -- but anyway), I thought if you put on too much salt, you just add pepper to 'reverse' it. I had some pretty awful meals before I figured it out properly.
