Ok where was i Thanks to Doc Ohh i finally have a list of my 300 books in calibre spread out over 41 pages in calibre created from the cvs format; so guess i need to re ask; how do i get those 41 pages from calibre over to libre so i can print from their.
The list should look a lot better printed from libre writer then calibre; or do i have to print from calibre; then scan then send to libre; would assume theirs an easyier way but haven t found it yet dang it. The perfect way would be to select all in calibre; then copy/paste into libre writer but of course thats way to easy for calibre, Awaiting ideas - later ; thanks |

If you created a catalog in csv format you were asked where you would like to save the file. Simply go to the file in your file manager and open the file in Libre's Calc program. If you can't recall where you put it there is another copy, simply click on the CSV (see attached, circled in red) next to Formats: in the Book details pane and choose Libre office's Calc to open it up. Or on the same Book details pane next to Path: you can click on the Click to open link (see attached circled in blue) then open the csv file from Windows explorer in Libre's Calc program. From there you are on your own. Good Luck. |

Ops checked and the format is in E pub and xml and Azw3; the cvs got saved and never openned correctly so deleted those files; which begs an interesting question i wonder if one of the three would use less pages to print out the 300 books might be a way to save paper and ink; but back to my question; but still wonder how do i get 41 pages over to libre and not print from calibre but as you said you don t know how do that so i am on my own for figuring that out got ya.
Maybe i should try googling for other reader soft ware forums they might have an answer guessing their is a way to do that - thanks a bunch . . |

Since you seem determined not to use Libre Office Calc which is a purpose designed tool for manipulating and printing csv files, I suggest you drag and drop the csv file into an empty Libre Office Writer window.
Writer doesn't offer much in the way of manipulating and printing csv files but if that's what you want to do don't complain here - go to a Libre Office forum. Give a man a hammer and everything looks like a nail. BR |

Ouchy where to start ok hows this being more direct this time.
BetterRed - I tryed using libre calc and nothing happened guessing you didn t go back far enough to read that so why wouldn t i be " determined " to quote you not to use calc since it nothing happened ; don t think using it three or four times will get it to work. Doc Ohh - Yes you got that right the cvs format was indeed saved but never; repeat never openned when i saved it to libre calc or dragged; it was dragged over to calc to libre calc but vwas never openned by libre calc all i got was weird numbers and letters; either way so why save something that does me no good please explain ! As for the cvs why would i want to create a cvs catalog when saving it or dragging; to libre calc just to have nothing happen explain; can t wait. I have the 300 book list aready openned in either E pub and xml and Azw3; which ever i choose i would assume all three have different lengths; page output for print projects so guess i need to check on all three formats seeing how your stuck on CSV; i just thought you knew how to get any of those formats over to libre writer and not have to deal with the mess called libre calc. I can live with that and ask about on other reader forum sites; and the silver platter is invisible to me here; never got here - later . . |

Everyone else would have accepted the silver platter of post two and been finished by post 5, maybe it is a language barrier that is getting in the way. |

You must be the most obtuse person ever.
Many of us have told you WHAT to do but you seem unwilling to follow simple instructions. EBook formats such as ePubs or azw3 are simply not designed to print. We keep saying to use CSV as it IS a very easy to manipulate and print format. |

@lostcause - the csv file is in fact a text file, so open it in notepad, replace all the commas with four spaces and print it (probably best to use landscape orientation) - it won't be very pretty - but you will have 300 lines at say 30 lines a page so it should be about 10 pages.

No wonder you are having problems
![]() CVS is the regional Pharmacy Chain CSV is the filename extension that has been USED for over 40 YEARS for Comma separated Variables. One of the 2 most commonly used file types when moving data sets between differing programs. (The other was DBF. good ole' dBase) I don't know how long you have been using computers, but many of the folk that have been answering here started with paper tape and punched cards. CSV files, when imported into Calc or Excel will normally present a field-map verification/adjustment screen that shows the detected columns and the guessed data format type . You need to (adjust and) confirm to get to the final spreadsheet (column NAMES and partial date types most commonly trip up auto detect) |

Dear Peter (& all helpers),
I've been trying to develop an Excel datasheet of my books in a simple list like this for about a year. I've followed all the other members questions, and the answers provided by all of the kind and patient helpers. Seriously, God bless you for stating this in terms that even I could follow, and make it happen. I now have a simple list of 8,001 books that I can sort by author (first) name or title, that I can open on my computer or Kindle Fire!!! And, by knowing this simple method, I will just delete each list and replace it with each new addition to my library. You rock friend... Thank you so very much. Dan H |
