I'm now enjoying the Kobo mini.

I just took it to Miraflores [Peru] with me and thoroughly enjoyed the reading experience as I drank a Cappuccino with one hand, held the Kobo Mini with another hand, and used my third and fourth hands to eat a wonderful dinner.

So you see, the Kobo Mini really IS a very light reader!

--Now, if only I could find a place to buy the Kobo Aura and retire my Kobo Glo....at that $109 price, that is....

That's great, Dr. D! I'm glad you like it!

And I do feel the Aura is better than the Glo. I was lucky enough to get a good price on ebay, so now I no longer need my back-up Glo. It's less than 2 months old, so I am sure I can get my purchase price ($89) back.

Your experience seems to mirror other users of the Kobo Glo (which is a great reader, by the way).

I have the Aura HD, which is simply superb. I figure I'll get about 8 months use out of it before the newer Carta screen makes its appearance.

I looked at an Aura in the store but still prefered the bezel and Mini-esque look of the Glo. I am still keeping my eyes peeled for a blowout price on one of those, so maybe one day I will get my first back-lit eReader. For now I am happy with my Mini and PRS's

Dr. Drib: I've just booked a vacation to Las Vegas, and will be taking my trusty Mini with me there again. It is the only way to go when sitting next to the pool with a drink in one hand...

I understand what you mean. (By the way, the light is front-lit, as distinguished from tablets which are back-lit.)

While my case is a great joy to house the Kobo Mini, for trips when I want the reader in my pocket, I wish I had also bought a sleeve. (I don't want to carry it around with me without some protection.)

It just barely fit into my front pocket, so a sleeve would have been a nice addition to the purchase of my case.

I might try to have something made, something with a felt interior....anyone have any suggestions? (Keeping in mind that to have a $10-dollar something shipped to Peru for a ridiculous amount of money doesn't make much sense.)

Has anyone made a sleeve for their Mini?

I just bought another Mini as a backup. I got a white one in honor of our Dr. Drib. I REALLY love the Mini as an ereader and wanted to have a backup in case it is ever needed.

Congratulations on your purchase. These little readers are truly fun to read on.!

I find that the white reader stays remarkably fingerprint-free, whereas my black Kobo Glo has gotten so be-smudged with prints that I no longer bother to try and keep it fingerprint-free.

Up with the Mini!

I currently have a small bubble envelope (the kind you mail things in) that I am using as a sleeve. Even though I have some cases, I do enjoy using it naked.

Before I purchased the official case for the Mini, I made a sleeve from a remnant of ultrasuede I found at a local fabric store. Snug enough for protection but still offers easy access to the Mini. The ultrasuede is ideal for protecting the display. Thick felt works well too but stay away from 100% wool unless you don't mind removing small "hairs" from the screen of your Mini (As experienced with a sleeve for my Aura HD)

Is suede better than felt, in your opinion?

Personal preference, really. The ultrasuede (synthetic) is versatile, washable and softer. Felt is good too as long as it's not wool.

I made a lovely turquoise and purple one entirely out of dollar store felt (just a quick stitch-up, two pieces together to make it thicker and give a funky contrast effect when the inside shows)... but I also made a more rugged one out of dollar store felt for the inside lining, and cotton fabric on the outside (attached).

You just need to find someone with a sewing machine and some very basic skills (I have never sewn anything since we were forced to in high school...lol).

Congrats jersysman! If I ever see a nice deal on a white Mini, I would have a hard time not buying a second one...

I like that! It looks good and it looks like something that would fit perfectly in an average-sized front pocket of a man's pants - which is exactly what I'm looking for.

I have the dimensions of the Mini, but it might be problematic figuring out the extras millimeters needed to house the Mini 'securely' in a sleeve.

On a side- note, I bought a sleeve for my Kindle PW2, $9.99, and found out that my Kobo Glo also fits in it, as well. Even though the Glo is not as tall as the Kindle, the fit is essentially perfect.

Here's the URL for that one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I would like to have one EXACTLY like that, but for the Kobo Mini.

Back to the Mini:

There's a sleeve available from Amazon, but it's $14.99

Here's the URL

http://www.amazon.com/Felt-Mini-E-re...bo+mini+sleeve

There's also this one, Etsey:

http://www.etsy.com/listing/15519555...ve-case-dotted

which is rather expensive.

Thank you Teija. I really like the white one. I like it even more so than the black. I think I'll use my black one as the backup now.
