@fallenfuzz: Are you sure you really meant to say lost the JB? I'd expect you to lose most of the hacks, but not the JB itself.
(ie. most hacks stop working, but you're still able to reinstall them without re-installing the JB itself). |

@MoVo: Because there's extra 'magic' involved (sideloading a thumbnail), which is done by Calibre's "Send To device" step

Hm, didn't try that. But once I installed the update and tried to launch kual, it told that I don't have jailbreak so I went through JB + All-in-one KUAL prerequisites, flashed those two and all good now.

That you do not have "the KINDLET jailbreak" ?? That would be expected. |

As knc1 said, yup, perfectly normal, there's a very good chance the *device* JB was fine

Are you sure?
Does anybody has even tried ? I really prefer the firmware 5.3.9 from PW1. This new firmware only look up for words in one dictionary. If it doesnt find it, dont even try in another. |

I don't disbelieve in anybody, HarryT.
I just wanted to be sure because knc1 wrote "Not Likely". You don't need to be harsh. I didnt tried myself because if it bricks my pw, I wouldnt know what to do. Thanks, NiLuje, Knc1. |

The K5 models prior to the PW2 use a SoC from the Freescale i.MX50 series ; The PW2 uses a SoC from the Freescale i.MX6 series. One obvious "show stopper" is that the two SoC series use different GPUs - with a different instruction set. Also, the SoC device (and its pin/signal relationships) are programmable. That programing is not the same for an i.MX50 and an I.MX6 . So a "brute force" - "just load a PW2 image file on a PW1" is **NOT** going to work. Now back-porting a specific application feature (such as the dictionary service) **MIGHT** be possible, **IF** the system was openly documented. But it is not. My best advice - give up on this idea. - - - - ![]() While this is a community of hobbyists who enjoy doing this sort of work, some of the "hobbyists" here also do this sort of work as their "day job". We are also human, we (including myself, often) do make mistakes but this site is a reliable source of technical information. We all work hard to keep it a reliable resource.
