Thanks a bunch, Amazon makes it so confusing to tell which is which, that's why I kept calling it the HD 2012.

I called mine KFHD2 So yours could be KFHD1. Now here's the thing the KFHD2 is not a upgrade of the KFHD1 but a upgrade of the KFv2. They just changed the name so many get confused thinking they removed features like the camera but in truth the KFv2 never had those but the KFHD1 did so yes Amazon pretty much took features from the KFHD1 and the KFv2 and make the KFHD2.

You can turn off 'highest quality' and audiobooks will take about half the space, & you may not notice much difference. Of course they also download more quickly.
Yes, they should ask before downloading. But then what if you change your mind, etc. I prefer to think KFHD2 as a completely new model, since the only think it has in common with last year's KFHD is the screen. It isn't v2 of anything. But KDHD2013 takes 3 more keystrokes. |

Actually it doesn't let you choose as soon as you open the book it downloads the Audible. It always the Enhanced version there is no way to change that I have found. |

Most likely it is downloading the format that you have set up as your default on the Audible site. I assume if you changed it to another format there it would change what is automatically downloaded.

I don't think the setting on audible.com has any effect, except for stuff you download to the computer to copy to iTunes or to MP3 player. Last edited by tomsem; 12-22-2013 at 09:55 PM. |

I found this thread in a desperate attempt to figure out if there was anyway to be able to add to my PW2 all my books via USB and then manually add them to collections. Apparently not easily. I get that warning message every time and let's not forget about the fact that when I go to manage a collection, it shows all the books on my Cloud which I could care less about as I already have them in my own files.
And then I discovered the Calibre Collections feature that made me excited but then not excited when I learned that it doesn't yet support the PW2. So, now I patiently wait and hope and pray that ixtab is able to update his collections manager file to support the PW2. I would think that it would be easy enough to be able to have the option not to show your books on the cloud when trying to manage your collections. Amazon must be taking a page from Apple whose products I refuse to buy because of their proprietary attitudes. My husband loves his PW1, so he bought me this for Christmas to replace my Kindle 3. So far, my Christmas gift has been a big, frustrating dud. |

You will probably still have to downgrade to firmware v5.4.0 which is now possible since ixtab got a flashed main partition and it can used to overwrite the later firmware. See here: http://ixtab.tk/kindle-touch-images/PW2/README.txt |

You could also use Calibre's Plugboard feature to give your books a naming convention that will help to put them in the collections more easily. This is the method I used, though it still took me about two weeks to get everything as I wanted it, but keep in mind I have a very large library. |

Makes note to go research what Calibre's Plugboard feature is.
I am so not technically savvy and frequently feel like I am reading a foreign language. |

Me too, but if you ask the question of what you are trying to accomplish, there are some very savvy people there who will help you accomplish what you are trying to attempt.
