Haha I wish I'd spent more time in class and less time with Dickens over beer... but I had more fun and made more friends and learned more life skills with Dickens and beer than I would have in class...

Let us give a lusty cheer
For wasting time on Dickens and beer, For lessons learned and friendships dear. Never so much can be learned in class, You're much better off parking your ass on a wooden stool by a fetching lass with a book in her arm - get her a glass! So let us give a lusty cheer For wasting time on Dickens and beer and if things ever get too serious here, switch to Scotch. Last edited by Taylor514ce; 04-30-2008 at 08:51 AM. |

The verse was written in the undeservedly obscure AAA BBBB AAAScotch rhyme scheme.

Is it too late to add an "other" column. I completed 2 of 4 years of college and have no plans to go back (other than the occasional online class).

For my beer I studied biotech in Australia, and for my dickens and whisky I'm doing philosophy in Norway. This actually works out pretty well.

I'm crazy enough to be back in school AGAIN. Getting a doctorate in education. It's part of my subversive plan... wait... er... nothing, nothing.

I didn't finish high school when I was a teenager. But that didnt' stop me from successfully completing a degree and postgraduate program. It did make it more difficult to get into courses, especially in the old days where you had to prove you would be likely to be successful in tertiary studies. Luckily I had a sympathetic assessor and I was allowed into a course that started off about 15 years of barely stopping study.

Honours BA in English Language and Literature
Then a two-year Journalism post-grad program (that was a *huge* mistake!) Then a one-year teaching degree (I currently work as a French teacher and love it) One can also add additional qualifications to the basic teaching degree, and I collect those every year. I have since added, in addition to the French qualification, an Intermediate add-on (let's me teach up to Grade 10) and a course in computer teaching. The French and Computers are three parts (but you can start teaching once you have Part 1). I have 2 of the 3 for French and will likely take the third, but I don't plan to take any more computers. The course was way below my computer level and I was very bored (the most taxing assignment creating an 8-slide Powerpoint show) and the Part 1 is enough to give me official credibility for both my summer job and my school year one. At $900 a pop, I'll pass on Parts 2 and 3 ![]() |
