I have ordered from Kobo online previously, with never a problem. Two days ago (Dec 7), I tried to order an Aura HD from their website and got the "Payment authorization has been denied" message. So I tried with a different browser. Same message. So I tried with my debit card instead of a credit card. Same message. I emailed Kobo and they want me to try another browser, take a screen pic, etc. etc. Yesterday I got a call from my bank about all the attempts to use my credit and debit cards. The bank said it appears that the transaction goes through, the card is charged, and then the transaction is reversed. After reactivating my credit and debit cards, I think I am just going to find an indie store or order from Chapters, even with the added shipping.

I strongly recommend those who are having this issue to just buy it from the indie bookstores (local or otherwise). Even if you can place the order with Kobo, even if they get it right, you're still going to have to wait 7-10 days just to get it (assuming they ship promptly). Best to just avoid the hassle altogether!

The Kobo Aura HD is out of stock until January, according to their site.

Bought my new Aura HD from an indie store this afternoon. No hassles, no waiting, no calls from my bank about possible credit card fraud--delightful. I can't believe we have an indie store in my teeny tiny town that carries Kobo ereaders, but we do!

I got that same message, in fact, I started a thread about not being able to buy books after the 3.1.0 upgrade. I haven't been able to buy anything from Kobo in the last week so I called my bank today and they said they'd blocked Kobo because they thought it might be fraud. They finally straightened it out and now I can buy from them again. Weird!
