He's probably practicing with his Alpenhorn band or synchonizing with his mechanical wristwatch collecting club or some other Swiss thing.

The only time I was ever in Switzerland, I think, was about 10 years ago. Remember that day where the wind all over central Europe was just blowing like crazy? Attempted commercial airplane landing videos were on the US nightly news. Well, I was headed for Stockholm, but my flight into Zurich from Bucharest was that afternoon. It was either Lufthansa or Swiss Air. Anyway, we weren't bouncing like you do in rough air, we were soaring and swooping and lurching in the sky like a drunken dragon. That pilot had the Airbus crabbed and the port wing of the aircraft dropped into the wind like he was landing a Cessna 172, and getting down with a bang was a huge relief.

It was very late by then, and flights were cancelled everywhere, so the airline made a mass reservation for the entire flight and we rolled up into the mountains on a bus to a tourist trap hotel that Walt Disney might have built - "rustic Swiss chalet" on a commercial scale. We staggered off the bus, exhausted and drained of adrenalin, after midnight, and came dragging back to the lobby by 4 a.m. to get back to catch an early flight out.

I remember that night like it was a hallucination.
