To give a little perspective. Of all the units we sold so far, we had only one broken screen. Thats less than 1%.

Well, at least one case you were involved in. If my iLiad's screen would break I would contact iRex directly, because they have to repair the device in the end. Isn't that the right way?

You are right, but i assume, most customers of mine would call me first, to ask for the procedure in such a case. But i dont know how many broken screens were handled by iRex directly without my knowledge.

I imagine that in your case, especially, Tribble, your customers are quite likely to contact you because of language issues - I don't know if the people at iRex speak German or not. We sometimes seem to think that all you strange "foreigners" speak English, but I know that this is, in fact, occasionally not the case .

I speak all the time German with them @ international iRex Technical Support Hotline. It's a German phone number.

I'm not sure how many others have picked up on it yet, but it's quite obvious that iRex doesn't do their own support. They outsource it to a company in Germany. A standard practice for an operation of their size...

I don't want to become the bad poll police on here, but the title of the thread is most likely bound to attract an inordinate number of people whose screens have already cracked, thus pushing the poll's results toward that option in a way that isn't representative of the iLiad audience on MobileRead.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious if you read the iRex forum for any length of time.

My Iliad is a year old, has been treated fairly harshly. I shove it in my bag alongside a load of other stuff. I have only recently put it in a cover. For six months it went through xray security scanning pretty much four days a week. It has been dropped a couple of times, the second time being from the seat of our four wheel drive on to gravel, landing face down on gravel ( I don't recommend testing this out tho ), this fall resulted in near damage to my heart, but none to the screen.

I consider the screen to be a petty tough device to withstand what I have inflicted.
