I guess the new Aura is to the left in both videos? It looks very good. A little yellow tint, but that'll probably only show in comparison. Seem to have very even light IMO. I've all but made up my mind now! :-)

In comments, they say they haven't updated it because they want to "show that differentiation" or some such rubbish. If they want to inform their readers/viewers about the actual difference between readers in real life, they need to use an updated reader. Instead they're showing off differences that have no relevance to current-day buyers. Why? I have no clue. In comments, in response to someone talking about how the lowest setting of the Glo is still a touch too bright, they says that you wouldn't want to ever read on a setting below 50%. Huh? Do these guys actually read with these ereaders? Ever? Reading at 50% on a Glo in a dark room will blast your eyeballs out of their sockets. Still showing comparisons with different books in different fonts with different settings, too. ![]() Last edited by meeera; 09-11-2013 at 09:43 PM. |

Hey my Glo is at 54% right now and it's fine in a dark room. |

Yes at some point it was. Not a massive difference I don't think, but noticable (I don't really use my light that low, or read in complete darkness very often so I can't really speak from direct experience).

Also, it appears the Aura HD is a whole lot better than the Glo too, but I've also read that they all share the same firmware? A lot of people seem to buy ereaders and because they've made the choice to buy say a Kindle or a Kobo, so they try to ignore small issues like this and just be happy with it. Then again, you get people that are just never happy! Got to say, the Aura does look very promising right now though.... |

![]() Speaking from experience with an Aura HD though, 50% is really really bright! Meeera I agree with your last sentence (no offence to those who read with higher levels of light, I wish I could). In a dark room, from around 20% up I can't look the Aura HD straight in the eyes screen. |

yeah I noticed that comment too...
I personally use 7% when reading at night (not complete darkness though) and 27 or 37 when it's a cloudy day XD Never even gone above 40%... |

IME, a high-resolution tablet is fairly comfortable. My ereader is definitely more comfortable for long periods of time. But a high-res tablet works well. You really do want a high-res tablet though. My 1280x800 tablet is much harder to read on, especially now that I've felt the difference.
