Well, I thik it is satisfying. I also write down that I have read the book and at which date wich is also satisfying. It is closure for the reading of the book.

Well, you can borrow them from friends, get them as a gift from friends when they have finished it, use book crossing, buying second hand and so on. And if you factor in the cost of the reader it seems a reasonable claim if your behaviour is of the cost minimizing kind.
