No question there.
The way Wii sales tanked after Kinect came out and the tepid reception for the 3D should have warned them the market had changed.

Right now the only thing keeping the Wii U from joining Dreamcast is the hope that their franchise games will rescue this XMAS to buy time so they can cost reduce the thing out of next gen pricing range (down to the ~$200).

So far it has a "fresh lemony" smell attached to it: their new controller is actually a step back in ergonomics and simplicity from thee Wii waggle wand interface. It is looking to be both too little and too late to market. By at least a year.

Wii brought a lot of new, casual gamers into the console market but a big chunk of them chose to upgrade to HD gaming via XBOX/PS3 instead of waiting for WiiU.

I would love it to be cheap enough to connect to National Parks. That would be great. I would be a frequent rider. I thought at one time to get into flying small planes for that reason, but flying your own plane is actually quite costly, and my wife's equestrian ventures seem to have absorbed the costly stuff.

Back to gaming but in the same vein.

I personally love "simulators." Plane simulators, wilderness simulators, boat simulators and an Elon Musk Hyper-loop simulator might hit the mark. (I could probably swing that.)

A Tesla simulator would be good too. Maybe "stockholders" will get something. (Or maybe just a test drive.) I can remember the old Road Runners. 442 Plymouth Hemi Roadrunner.
I was a kid when those monsters tore up the asphalt impressing me mightily, and now a Tesla! Dad knew a guy that had one. "Fastest thing on the road."

Granting that the current meme is that *real* gamers use $2000 PC rigs, some of us do "dabble" in console gaming when not reading ebooks.

Plus, the "gamer" spectrum is not a strictly divided thing. In between my RPGs and FPSs and my CPU-hogging strategy games, I play HOGs (hidden object games), physics games, and plenty of other casual games that would work well on an Ammy STB.

Ditto.
I love Mass Effect and Elder Scrolls and the like, but I also kill time with Bejeweled and Spider solitaire.

The wildcard Amazon could bring to the table is that they are a top-tier Cloud computing service provider so they could easily implement and support a streaming game service like OnLive.
