I have found that if I fold back my Nexus 7 case and clip the case into stand mode I can hold it more comfortably. When the case is set so as to stand the tablet horizontally on a surface the long side has a width of just over an inch (3 cm). Grasping that in my clumsy fist is much more comfortable that holding the narrow case in precision grip between thumb and forefinger.
So I have a solution for portrait mode reading; but I prefer reading on my 11.5" laptop. To be accurate it's a Samsung Chromebook (poor man's MacBook Air). The Beta Livemargin Reader (based on Readium?) is the best App I have found, and gives a very good two page view. Reading library loans online via Overdrive Read is very easy, but I do prefer the two page view - maybe the next version of Overdrive Read will have that feature It's back to the ergonomic advantages of the hinge. A small laptop sits well on the knee and the screen can be adjusted to suit. A tap of the trackpad turns a page. Last edited by Labarum; 09-05-2013 at 11:07 AM. |
