For the new Nexus 7 they decided to call it an S4 Pro but it's more like a more like a lower-binned or underclocked Snapdragon 600.

They "bin" processors when they don't quite meet the spec but still want to use the silicon. AMD/Intel has done this for ages (dual-core chips with 2 more cores enable-able with extra voltage, CPUs with cache disabled, etc).
Thanks, that's good to know, and I guess it explains the confusion pre-launch about the CPU powering it, with conflicting reports about the S4 Pro and the S600.

Lately, Microsoft's market share over all computing space, which includes tablets and phones, has been decreasing faster than its walling off, locking down, and Imaginary Property trolling, fudding, and litigating have been increasing.

Apple is going like gang busters on all.

(There is nothing inherently evil about increasing market share, but both companies are quite willing to use evil means to do so.)
