Did you download these eBooks already made as ePub? If so, try the Fan Fiction plugin for Calibre and download them again using the plugin. You did say that a number of them have errors in another thread. Maybe the plugin will create better ePub files then the ones you've downloaded.

If you did use the plugin and are getting errors when validating, please let the author of the plugin (in the Calibre Plugin section) know that there is a problem with the validity of some of the ePub created by the plugin.
