I make my own ebook covers but I have the good sense to try and be creative with the pics I pull offline.

I'd suggest going a Google search on the picture to see if anyone else has used the same picture on the cover if that's something you want to avoid. You may be clever with your picture selection, but someone else might have been clever in the same way.

You have to remember, too, that there are naturally certain images that will come to mind for any subject. If the story involves a chase, such as would be the case for, say, "The Fugitive", you'd expect a chase to be depicted on the cover.
