Your information is out of date. FW 2.6.1 (currently being rolled out, it hasn't reached everyone yet) has removed the title on side-loaded epubs. While the top margin is slightly larger then in 2.5.1, it is significantly smaller then in 2.5.2. Tastes will, of course, vary.

Good to know! Glad Kobo fixed this issue, which annoyed a lot of people.

There is obviously a lot of personal preference involved, but to me having a title (or at least some space) at the top makes the page look much more balanced than when they had it right to the top. It's worth seeing if you can look at one in person to decide if it bothers you or not.

The UK tv show "The Gadget show" did a bit on ereaders a few days ago comparing the paperwhite and aura and basicly ranked them

1: Aura HD
2: Kindle Paperwhite
3: Nook Glowlight

They tested them in dark and sunlight and found the aura was more evenly distributed with no patches at the edges of the display which they found at the bottom of the paperwhite also the nook got more blurry in sunlight kind of defeating the point of eink.
